Floyd Mayweather notes, WWE Developmental results, Chris Jericho spot removed from DVD

The Floyd Mayweather and Big Show angle from No Way Out didn’t get much ESPN play, but the press conference and Mayweather’s claim of earning $20 million was all over the network’s talk shows on Tuesday. You can check out three show recaps here: ”Pardon the Interruption, Around the Horn, and Rome is Burning.
-SportsIllustrated.com also chimed in with a story about Mayweather’s payoff. “I had approached the (WWE) about a year ago but it didn’t fit into our schedule,” Leonard Ellerbee told S.I. “We sat down with them again about a month ago and they made an incredible offer and me and my business partner Al Heyman sat down with them and we cut the deal. It’s an eight-figure deal worth $20 million just for this one fight.” [Thanks to Dot Net reader Tim]
-This normally wouldn’t qualify as pro wrestling news, but Oscar De La Hoya, whose agent was approached by WWE about taking part in the angle, told the San Diego Union Tribune that he intends to fight three more times before he retires. One of those fights will be against Mayweather in September.
-Let’s keep the boxing theme rolling with today’s poll question: Is pro wrestling or boxing hurt more by the booming popularity of UFC/MMA? Thanks to Dot Net reader Jagger K. for coming up with that question. By the way, you are welcome to submit any ideas you have for poll questions by sending them to me at dotnetjason@gmail.com.
-As for yesterday’s poll, 42 percent of you feel that Jeff Hardy should win the Money in the Bank match and capture the WWE Title at WrestleMania 24. 34 percent feel it would be foolish to give Hardy the WWE Title without advertising him in a title match ahead of time. 23 percent feel it’s a cute idea, but there’s no way it will happen. Only two percent of voters said they don’t want to change the match because they are looking forward to the Randy Orton vs. John Cena vs. Triple H three-way. I lean toward it being a cute idea that won’t happen. However, I’m surprised that so few people cited their excitement over the scheduled three-way match.
