ESPN’s Jim Rome changes his tune on Floyd Mayweather working for WWE
Feb 26, 2008 - 03:53 PM |
ESPN host Jim Rome was critical of Floyd Mayweather last week for taking part in the No Way Out pay-per-view angle with Big Show. However, he changed his tune on Wednesday’s “Rome is Burning” broadcast. Rome said during the opening minutes of his program that he couldn’t blame Mayweather for taking a $20 million payday. He said the writers only need to come up with a way for Mayweather to pin Big Show. [Thanks to Dot Net reader Ryan Madland]
Powell’s POV: I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that mainstream media members aren’t questioning the legitimacy of the $20 million claims when few have bothered to question whether the claimed boxing payoffs are legitimate. By the way, you’ll know if I make $20 million off this website because there will be a picture on the main page of me rolling around naked in a pile of money, and then you’ll never hear from me again. Oh, and “Rome is Burning” is scheduled to be replayed at 5:30 (CST) on ESPN2.
