Jim Ross comments on The Rock, Chyna, Brock Lesnar, Triple H
Feb 15, 2008 - 09:31 AM

Jim Ross has posted his blog entry. The following items are among the highlights.

-Ross reports a rumor that Chyna is looking to hook up with New Japan Pro Wrestling. “There might be nothing to this rumor, but I do wonder if New Japan would endorse Chyna wrestling their male stars in today’s marketplace,” Ross notes.

-J.R. puts over The Rock for not changing with success. “I am so impressed with Dwayne’s accomplishments in a tremendously challenging genre, that often times changes people and not for the better, but more impressed that he hasn’t changed from the down to earth, humble human being that he was the first day I met him.”

-The WWE event in Chille drew a sold out crowd of over 12,000 people. The company grossed over $1.3 million in Japan. The shows in Guadalajara and Quito, Ecuador both played to sold out crowds.

-Ross praised Triple H for returning in the middle of the overseas tour from his family related leave when he could have waited until Sunday to return at the pay-per-view.

-He predicted that Brock Lesnar will bounce back from losing his first UFC fight. “If Lesnar continues to learn the unique nuances of MMA, the UFC has a gold mine on their hands, but I think they already know that and they also know that Brock needs to win his next fight.”

-Ross predicted that there will be multiple injuries during Sunday’s No Way Out PPV. “The Elimination Chamber may be a great marketing tool and exciting for WWE fans to watch, but the way it is erected and the structure of the match lends itself to injuries and other situations of a graphic nature.

Powell’s POV: Was J.R. hinting that UFC will give Lesnar a softer opponent in his second fight because they feel he must win to retain his marketability? I’m still surprised they didn’t put him in there with a softer opponent the first time around. As for Chyna, I know she had a bad experience when she worked in Japan previously, but time heals all wounds, I suppose.
