Gangrel comes back to haunt WWE
Feb 19, 2008 - 03:55 PM

The White Wolf game developing company has filed a lawsuit against WWE over the use of the Gangrel trademark. The Hollywood Reporter notes that WWE licensed the trademark for five years back in 1998, but did not have the rights to use it when David Heath, who played Gangrel, appeared on the 15th Anniversary special late last year. You can read a copy of the lawsuit by clicking here.

Powell’s POV: The lawsuit notes that Heath also appeared as Gangrel on WWE events in 2004, and at WWE developmental events in 2005 and 2006. WWE has not publicly responded to the claim and probably won’t, so we don’t know their side of the story. If it’s as open and shut as it appears, then it wouldn’t surprise me if WWE attempts to settle the dispute rather than go to court.

What did you think of WWE's Jeff Hardy "unconscious in a stairwell" storyline?
It was a brilliant final hook for the pay-per-view.
It was a turnoff, but it's par for the course with WWE.
It was one of the sleaziest stunts the company has ever done.
