Floyd Mayweather claims “pro wrestling is for real”
Feb 19, 2008 - 09:21 AM

Floyd Mayweather is trying to sell his angle with Big Show as a shoot to the mainstream media. “Pro wrestling is for real,” he is quoted as telling The Grand Rapids Press on Monday. “I went to watching wrestling, and I was there watching it, and Rey Mysterio is a good guy, my little sons got me into wrestling. Next thing I know, Big Show grabs Rey and tries to chokeslam him. So I got in there, hit Big Show in the face, and broke the guy’s nose.”

Mayweather’s adviser Leonard Ellerbe declined to say whether he and WWE have agreed to terms on a WrestleMania 24 appearance. “If WWE comes to me with an offer, I’m always looking to expand Floyd’s fan base, and it is something I definitely would take a strong look at.” To read the full story, click here.

Powell’s POV: At some point, Mayweather will need to let the mainstream media know the truth about this story. He’ll lose a lot of credibility with sports writers if he continues to claim that pro wrestling is real.
