Dot Net Exclusive: Floyd Mayweather scheduled to wrestle at WrestleMania 24
Feb 18, 2008 - 02:11 AM

Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather will do more than stand at ringside or serve as a special referee at WrestleMania 24. Prowrestling.net has learned that he is scheduled to wrestle on the show, most likely in a tag team match. He is expected to team with Rey Mysterio—assuming Rey is healthy enough to wrestle—in a match against Big Show and a tag partner.

Powell’s POV: Vince McMahon and the creative team are said to be considering a number of different match possibilities. A source noted that plans are “constantly changing.” Although nothing is official, MVP's name has been mentioned as a possible candidate to team with Show. One would also have to assume that Shane McMahon is the strongest candidate since he took part in the pay-per-view angle. Mysterio’s injury changed the original plan for the angle that took place at No Way Out, and it could lead to changes in the match structure if he can’t wrestle or would be too limited to carry the match. Obviously, this angle explains why Mysterio is so set on appearing at WrestleMania despite his biceps injury. The WrestleMania payoff is big for wrestlers, but I think Rey recognizes the importance of this angle for the company and his career.
