This morning on “First Take” on ESPN, hosts Jay Crawford and Dana Jacobson brought up the Floyd Mayweather vs. Big Show fight and aired a clip of Monday’s press conference. After the footage aired, both hosts were talking about watching clips on Youtube of the Big Show-Mayweather confrontation from No Way Out.
The hosts were not sure whether it was fake or not, but they knew the punches Mayweather landed were real. Crawford mentioned that he may not pay to see what happens, but believes many will because of the hype the angle has been given thus far. The hosts also mentioned the size difference and that the kneeling Big Show was bigger than the standing Mayweather at the last pay-per-view. [Thanks to “Sir Rockin”]
Powell’s POV: Mayweather just earned a chunk of that $20 million he’s reportedly collecting for appearing at WrestleMania 24. WWE is hoping to garner mainstream publicity for his appearance and it appears Monday’s press conference was a good start. The AP picked up on the payoff story yesterday and many newspapers are carrying it this morning.
