Steve Austin turned down a chance to appear at WrestleMania 24. “There was a pitch thrown at me for WrestleMania, but I turned it down,” Austin told Thursday’s Miami Herald. “I’d like to go to the Hall of Fame and see the guys get inducted. They got enough talent in WWE that they don’t need me for WrestleMania, and it’s not my desire to go back into the ring. If I really needed the money, I’d go back in the ring, but I’ve been conservative with my money and invested wisely. I have fond memories of the business, and I love the business, but I don’t miss it.” To read the full story, visit the Miami Herald.
Powell’s POV: Of course, Austin could be working the reporter to protect a surprise story line, but it sounds like he’s content with not appearing on the big show. Good for him if he’s being sincere about this. It’s classy that he would pass on the big WrestleMania payoff, yet still have a desire to attend the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
