Mick Foley reveals his TNA start date, comments on Vince McMahon yelling at him and his departure from WWE, discusses his reality TV show project
Sep 5, 2008 - 10:00 AM |
Mick Foley called in to the "Opie and Anthony" XM radio show on Friday to wish show personality "Prime Time" Sam Roberts a happy birthday. He ended up discussing his departure from WWE and confirmed that getting yelled at by Vince McMahon through the headsets during the Smackdown tapings got to him.
Mick said the tension had been building for weeks and added that the final straw came during the Edge and Vickie Guerrero wedding. Foley said the wedding singers had been going on for nearly three minutes when he decided to say, "What a special moment." VInce got upset and yelled, "Layout damn it!" Foley said he wanted to walk out of the building at that moment.
Foley said he spoke to JBL, who told him that the job doesn't get any easier. Mick said he was actually told by several people that Vince was nicer to him than anyone else who had the job. Foley also acknowledged that he was informed that his bio had been removed from the alumni section at WWE.com, and said he's been pulled from the "Legends of WrestleMania" video game.
The move to TNA was discussed and that hosts gave him a hard time about working for a company that nobody watches. He told them he could show up anytime. When they pushed for a date, he said he'd debut in three weeks. He may have misspoke when he said, "I'm gonna be in Long Island..." and then corrected himself and said TNA would be in Long Island this weekend. He also claimed they haven't figured out what he's going to do for his debut appearance.
Foley also told the hosts that his family filmed an A&E reality television show a couple months ago for two weeks and 16 hours per day. He said the project was scrapped when the network told him the footage was boring. The hosts suggested that he develop a drug problem or sleep with a friend of his children. They corrected themselves and said the last one had already been done. The hosts, who are big WWE fans, also told Foley that they would boycott WWE for one month because of the way Vince treated him. Powell's POV: It's hard to say whether Foley let the cat of the out bag or was misspeaking when he mentioned the Long Island show. Let the speculation begin. Fans in attendance should know something is up if they see television cameras. TNA has television tapings on Sept. 29-30 in Orlando, which is roughly three weeks from now. The hosts had to push him to say anything regarding a debut date, so we'll find out soon enough whether he was shooting straight.
