WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view to be scrapped, Vince McMahon says it's "outlasted its usage"
Feb 11, 2010 - 10:50 AM |
Vince McMahon stated in the WWE conference call on Thursday that the WWE Survivor Series title is "obsolete." He added that the title has "outlasted its usage." He said they do not intend to use the name going forward.
Powell's POV: I'm sure this will upset some traditionalists, but I'm fine with WWE scrapping the Survivor Series name. The elimination tag matches aren't as appealing as they once were, and the pay-per-view numbers for the 2009 version of the show prove that Survivor Series doesn't mean what it once did to the majority of viewers. The show is still listed on the official pay-per-view calendar for 2010, but that could change given Vince's comments on the future of the November pay-per-view.
