Twilling's Blog: Here are five reasons to watch WWE Raw on January 4th
Jan 4, 2010 - 02:02 PM

Monday, JANUARY 4 - 2:02 P.M. (CT)

-After weeks of hype and speculation, January 4th, 2010 is finally here and tonight, WWE Raw goes head to head with TNA Impact. As we get closer to show time, I am going to list five reasons why you should watch Raw.

1. Bret Hart: Bret Hart said he would never, ever return to WWE as a character. Minus the Hall of Fame and one pre-taped Raw segment, he has kept his word for more than twelve years. For that, I give him all of the credit in the world. Never say never in wrestling. Well, "never" is usually a year or two, tops. Bret stayed away for twelve years.

Bret's return is the biggest return ever. In my opinion, the only return that came close was when Hulk Hogan returned to WWE after a nine year absence from the company he put on the map. Hogan himself has "returned" many times since. Mick Foley and Ric Flair did the same. For Bret and WWE, this is a special and unique situation. Seeing him in a WWE ring again should be one of the most surreal moments I've ever witnessed.

2. Bret Hart, Vince McMahon, and Shawn Michaels: Remember, Bret Hart, in terms of the story line, is only hosting tonight's show. So, WWE will get the ball rolling quickly giving him a reason to stick around through WrestleMania. That will happen tonight. I spoke earlier of surreal moments, well, you can add Bret and Vince going face to face, Bret and Shawn going face to face, and possibly, all three of them in the ring together.

3. What will Bret Hart's signing mean for the Hart Dynasty? Jason reported earlier that Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith, and Natalya will be at Raw. It would make a lot of sense for them to be involved with Uncle Bret and if they are, one has to think it will be the beginning of a huge push for them, especially if they work with DX. It will be very interesting to see what exactly Bret will have his hands in between now and WrestleMania.

4. Will Chris Jericho and Big Show regain the unified tag team championships? This is of interest for Jericho fans because if JeriShow wins, Jericho will be able to appear on both Raw and Smackdown. Since Raw gets triple the audience of Smackdown, having Jericho on that show is very important. Beyond that, will Bret Hart involve himself in the main event and help his fellow Canadian earn the victory?

5. With John Cena not on the show, will Sheamus get more attention as the WWE Champion? New stars; WWE needs to push new stars. We've said it, we've written it, and we've expressed it over and over again. Sheamus becoming the WWE Champion was met with praise and negativity.

What Sheamus represented was positive, but many felt he was not the right person to be promoted to such a high status. However, regardless of any of that, Cena has been presented as the star, while Sheamus has remained in the background. Perhaps with Cena out of the picture tonight, Sheamus will get the opportunity to cut a very good promo and/or look dominant in the ring.
