Twilling's Blog: Dot Net readers chime in on a possible candidate who could be Chris Jericho's partner at WWE Night of Champions and why it makes a lot of sense

-Earlier in the week, I wrote a blog about WWE Night of Champions and despite two strong main events featuring Randy Orton defending the WWE Championship against Triple H and John Cena and C.M. Punk defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Jeff Hardy, I said I was most intrigued about the WWE Tag Team Championship match.
You see, Chris Jericho and a mystery partner will defend the straps against former champions Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes. In that blog, I put forth a list of possible candidates to be Jericho’s partner because I feel whomever is given the spot should be very thankful and will benefit greatly.
I even predicted Christian would turn heel earlier in the show after losing the ECW Title match to Tommy Dreamer, and assume the role as Jericho’s partner. I received a lot of email about the blog and even read a thread in the Member’s Forum about a name I completely forgot about, and that is Chris Masters.
The sheer fact that so many people pointed out Masters as a possible option got me to thinking about it, and you know, he is a very logical choice. Let’s look at the facts supporting Masters as Jericho’s tag team partner:
Masters was always a heel in WWE: I would think Jericho would look for somebody a lot like himself. Masters’ personality during his last run would coincide with someone Jericho would run with. In terms of the options, Masters would make sense here.
Masters is a nice contrast to Jericho: Jericho is the heel that relies on speed and wrestling ability. Masters would be the power guy of the team. They compliment each other quite nicely in this regard.
Masters’ return needs to make a big splash: Jericho is not some random tag team champion; he is the MVP of WWE. Masters returning to WWE, being a champion before wrestling a match, and getting the rub from Jericho would be huge for him. Hell, WWE has to be high on him to re-sign him despite his two strikes.
The tag titles don’t mean much in WWE: For those of you arguing that Masters would not be rewarded with a tag title run upon his return, well, the titles don’t really mean much. Jericho is holding them right now, which alone gives the titles prestige, but they could easily get the belts of Jericho and his partner to put Jericho back where he belongs, the main event.
Well, there you go. Personally, Masters never did anything for me during his first stint in WWE, but maybe some time with Jericho will change things. Maybe his time away helped changed some things as well. I would rather see Christian (or a few others), but I would not mind seeing Masters either. Thank you to everybody who responded to the blog and if you care to read (or reread) it, it is directly underneath this one.

-This weekend’s WWE Night of Champions is the one pay-per-view event of the year in which every championship is defended. While C.M. Punk vs. Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Championship and Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship are the main events, neither is the most intriguing match on the show.
That distinction goes to the WWE Tag Team Championship match, pitting champion Chris Jericho and a mystery partner against Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes. Granted, the tag team title match is not usually a big deal on a WWE pay-per-view, but this particular match involves Chris Jericho. Jericho is the man in WWE right now and his “mystery partner” could be a huge break for anyone on the roster.
If Jericho is going to remain one of the tag team champions, who his partner ends up being will be a huge deal. Jericho, like he and Rey Mysterio did with the Intercontinental Championship, will at least give some prestige to the tag titles. Let’s take a look at his possible partners. Remember, somebody might end up doing double duty on the show, so I bet Jericho’s match goes on later.
Dolph Ziggler: Ziggler would be a popular choice as he could be seen as a younger Jericho and someone that could really use the rub. If Ziggler does not win the Intercontinental Championship, I could see him being Jericho’s partner later in the show.
Mark Henry: Henry has wrestled Jericho two weeks in a row after informing him he would not be his tag team partner. I’m guessing Henry will not be the mystery partner, but he merits mentioning.
Randy Orton: On Raw this past Monday, Jericho ran into Rhodes and DiBiase on his way out of the building. He teased Orton himself being his partner against his Legacy mates this Sunday. If the tag team title match is early in the show, with the WWE Championship match likely going on last, I could see this. It is highly unlikely, unless Orton did it only to lay down. That would piss a lot of people off, so on second thought, this probably will not happen.
The Miz: I actually do not want to see this even though Miz would be a logical choice. Miz is not tearing things up as a singles competitor on Raw, but I would rather not see him in a temporary tag team with Jericho right now. I hope he flourishes over on Raw.
The Brian Kendrick: TBK would be a logical choice and a pretty damn good one as well. Kendrick could use a jumpstart (obviously) right now and a run with Jericho could do him wonders. I doubt it will be him, but it definitely would be interesting.
Jack Swagger: Jericho and Swagger would make a damn good tag team. Swagger being involved in the six pack challenge for the United States Championship could put him in the same boat by allowing him to work again later in the show. I’m sure a lot of people would be happy with this.
Ted DiBiase or Cody Rhodes: I doubt they will go here, but they could tease it (remember, Rhodes turned on Hardcore Holly to be DiBiase’s partner in a similar situation). I doubt they will break up Legacy right now, especially for one of them align with another heel.
Somebody not listed or somebody from FCW: Perhaps I did not list the person who will be Jericho’s partner. My pick? I’ll go with Christian after he loses the ECW Championship match and turns heels afterward.
