Twilling's Blog: Mr. Kennedy (a/k/a Ken Anderson) is a better fit in TNA than WWE; was Randy Orton right or wrong in being so upset with Kennedy during their match?

-If you happened to take the weekend off from professional wrestling, you may be just hearing about the release of Mr. Kennedy (a/k/a Ken Anderson) by World Wrestling Entertainment. After last week's episode of Raw, I predicted that Kennedy would be gone within six months. Of course, this was after the show when Kennedy was rumored to have been injured again. I was not happy to be that correct about it.
Since his release on Friday, Kennedy taped a youtube video in which he showed everyone that his wrists (where the rumored injury was) were just fine. Kennedy being released was disappointing of course, but, and I have never said this about anyone, I think he is a better fit for TNA. I will explain what I mean, but right now, let's take a trip down Memory Lane.
Kennedy came to WWE with a cool ring entrance in which he introduced himself on an old school mic from the ceiling. He then mimicked the echo by repeating his name. Beyond that, he had a cool look, suave confidence, and an innovative move set. He was a star waiting to happen and WWE was ready to get behind him.
Of course, Kennedy won the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 23, and announced he was going to cash it in at WrestleMania XXIV. Being him, it must have been nice to know that far in advance that you were going to main event WrestleMania. All Kennedy had to do was stay healthy and stay clean.
If WWE, or anyone for that matter, wants to label Kennedy as "injury prone," they have every right to do so. However, being injury prone is more bad luck than anything. It happens. Some people are luckier than others. However, getting suspended under the wellness policy is not an unlucky situation, it is a conscious decision you make ahead of time.
Since Kennedy lost the briefcase to Edge, his career never got back on path. When he was on television, he lost a lot of the edginess that made him so popular. On top of that, he couldn't stay healthy. I went from being a huge fan of his to not being interested in him at all. Then this past Monday came along.
After Kennedy's promo, I was more excited about him than I had been in a very long time. He was back and he was exactly what Raw needed. Fast forward to the five on five main event and everything came to a screeching halt. If you missed it, Kennedy hit a back suplex out of a headlock on Randy Orton. Orton was visibly pissed as he threw a legitimate punch/slap at Orton in what looked like a natural physical reaction to his mood. He then pounded the mat twice.
I am guessing Orton landed awkwardly on his previously injured collarbone. However, watching the move back again and again, it was hard to tell why Orton was so upset. Orton knew the spot; he should have applied the headlock on the other side if he was worried. Obviously, he isn't going to try and land on either of his shoulders, but the side on which Kennedy was on when performing the move would affect the impact on Orton's previously injured collarbone.
Perhaps Kennedy gave him an extra push on the way down, which is hard to to tell, and if he did, Orton had every right to be upset. However, I guarantee Orton would not have reacted that way if Triple H or Undertaker gave him the same move in the same way.
Regardless, Kennedy is done in WWE. His comments regarding steroids, his inability to avoid injury, and pissing off Orton could all have likely played a part in his release. If Kennedy has the standard 90 day no compete clause in his contract, do not be surprised to see him in TNA on day 91.
I honestly believe Kennedy is a better fit in TNA than WWE. Size-wise, he has so many more options in terms of potential opponents. He is a great talker. If he stays healthy, I think this release will rejuvenate him and inspire him to excel in his new environment. Kennedy was lost in the shuffle in WWE. Ken Anderson will be the TNA World Heavyweight Champion by the end of the year. I was correct in my prediction he would be released by WWE, so hopefully I am correct about this too.
