Twilling's Blog: UFC made two great decisions over the weekend, will Raw properly promote WrestleMania tonight? What's going on with Chris Jericho and JBL?

-First of all, I have two compliments to give to UFC. The first is Saturday's pay-per-view main event between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Keith Jardine. Jackson won the very entertaining fight via unanimous decision. Where UFC did fantastic business was with the post fight interaction between Rampage and Rashad Evans, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. That was a nice way to end the pay-per-view while promoting a future fight between the two.
Secondly, I know the fight I really want to see is Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir to unify the Heavyweight Championship. Mir is responsible for Lesnar's only loss and although I don't see Lesnar losing this fight, the intrigue is there to sell a lot of pay-per-views. When Mir was injured and had to pull out of the fight, I was concerned they would replace Mir with someone else. The time for Lesnar vs. Mir is now and UFC has to strike while that iron is hot. I was very glad when they elected to reschedule the fight.
-While last week's Raw was about announcing WrestleMania matches, this week's show is about building toward the announced matches. Triple H and Randy Orton will likely dominate much of the show, especially with what happened last week on Smackdown. We will probably hear from Shawn Michaels. With John Cena being involved with Edge and Big Show, I could see that program being pushed to Friday night.
That leaves a couple of questions. I know there is still time before WrestleMania, but it would be nice to see who Chris Jericho is going to be facing. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed the segments very much, but I am getting antsy at this point. If his opponent turns out to be Steve Austin or Hulk Hogan, WWE can afford to wait to make that announcement. However, with all due respect to Jerry Lawler, but if he turns out to be the guy, fans might be disappointed if they continue to build up the announcement, only to reveal him as Jericho's opponent.
-JBL knows how to move on from adversity. You have to give him credit for that. First of all, he hired Shawn Michaels to help him go into WrestleMania as the World Heavyweight Champion. That did not happen. Then he moved onto attempting to end The Undertaker's streak at Mania. That did not happen either. He then made an announcement that he would be doing something legendary at the big show. What could it be?
So, a script leaked last week saying JBL would go into his home state as the Intercontinental Champion. Well, that turned out to be pretty lackluster. We don't know if this will come to fruition, but JBL going to WrestleMania as the IC Champion is hardly legendary. Of course, the boastful nature of his character could be the reason behind pimping the announcement, but there has to be a sense of credibility to his character. At this point, announcing his retirement and the fact he is investing in OVW would be a better way for him to go out, in my opinion.
