10/11 Dot Net One Shots: The Dot Net staff give their quick thoughts from the previous week in WWE, TNA, MMA and indie wrestling
Welcome to the Dot Net One Shots. Each week, we will present a quick "one shot" thought from each staff member about the previous week in each of the following areas: WWE, TNA and Other (MMA, Indies, etc).
Will Pruett (Twitter - @itswilltime): This week I fast forwarded through Raw. It was the most fun I've had watching the show in months. Unless WWE changes the format they present TV with, there is no reason not to shave Raw down to one hour via DVR.
Jake Barnett (Twitter - @barnettjake): CM Punk and Vince McMahon made Raw a must watch episode this week. I cringed at the reference to Lawler, and I'm not entirely convinced Ryback has the mic skills to be in the main event, but the shaking camera and the crowd reaction at least shows WWE is on to something.
Chris Shore (Twitter - @TheShoreSlant): WWE Main Event continues to be the highlight of wrestling each week. The different format makes it stand out from the rest of the mediocre programming WWE produces. It's still hurt by that mediocre programming, but I find myself looking forward to next week's show.
Will Pruett: I can't be the only person concerned about Bound for Glory this week. Austin Aries seems like less than he has all year. The Aces and Eights drama has dragged on and on. Storm vs. Roode has a guy in a silly crown and cape. I want this show to rock. Prove me wrong, TNA.
Jake Barnett: Hulk Hogan's sexcapades are overshadowing the hard work TNA is putting in to promoting Bound for Glory. I'm interested to see if they can stay on track heading into their biggest show of the year. Like it or not, Hogan is portrayed as one of the faces of then company, and if his performance suffers major TNA angles could lose steam.
Chris Shore: Bound for Glory is this weekend, and supposedly this is their biggest show of the year. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel special. Austin Aries has lost all momentum, the much looked for Bobby Roode vs. James Storm match has gotten gimmicky, and nothing feels special in the tiniest way. The story telling hasn't been bad, but it hasn't built to anything inspiring either. Let's hope they have something in the bag for tonight.
Other (MMA, Indies, Etc)
Will Pruett (ROH): There is a chance that I may actually watch ROH now that Jim Cornette has been removed. They need to do something signaling change this weekend on iPPV. Their crowd will know about the change anyways, so it's on ROH's shoulders to show what it means.
Jake Barnett (WWE): WWE's recent moves in the announce booth have made Raw a much smoother broadcast. JR and JBL do a great job of giving a sometimes dull broadcast a good amount of life. I hope the King's return doesn't mean those two have to go away, as I think some genuine hostility in the booth can really add to the show.
Chris Shore (ROH): If a booker falls in ROH, and no one is around to see it, does it make a sound?
