Welcome to the Wednesday One Shot. Each week, we will present a quick "one shot" thought from each staff member about the previous week in each of the following areas: WWE, TNA and Other (MMA, Indies, etc).

WWE

Will Pruett (Twitter - @itswilltime): I actually like the division created this year between the Money in the Bank matches. In the WWE Championship one, we're seeing main event level stars. In the World Heavyweight Championship one, we will likely see mid-card wrestlers on the rise. Both matches will be very different and very capable of delivering. This show should be fun.

Jake Barnett (Twitter - @barnettjake): John Cena was not on his game Monday for whatever reason. The promo he cut was a little too juvenile for this viewer, and managed to actually make Chris Jericho look sympathetic with his sarcastic mocking of Cena. Was that the point? Time will tell I guess, but you have to feel sorry for Jericho, who will be tasked with bumping his ass off in a match with two giants and the companies most prized asset. Punk, AJ, and Bryan appear to be headed towards the conclusion of their storyline at MITB as well, and that perhaps is the most compelling reason to watch the show.

Mark Gessner (Twitter - @MarkGessner): I don't know how I feel about about an all former Champions Money in the Bank match for Raw. Generally, the match is used to elevate a mid-carder into the main event picture (i.e. Edge, C.M. Punk, Miz, and Daniel Bryan). Having all former champions, all of them have already been in main events and there is no real intriguing winners going into the match.

Ryan Kester (Twitter - @TheRyanKester): The more I think about it, the more I dislike the idea of a MITB ladder match featuring only former champions. That seems to fly in the face of what the MITB has been thus far, and it is disappointing to see WWE turn away another chance to make a new star.

Chris Shore (Twitter - @TheShoreSlant): I shudder to think how the World Heavyweight Championship MitB match will be featured. If they make someone a legitimate star from it, then all will be well. But I fear the winner of that match will be the first to fail to cash in. I also fear it will be Dolph Ziggler.

TNA

Will Pruett: Aside from the payoff of Dixie Carter and A.J. Styles' almost affair angle, this past week was a decent show. It worried me to see them try to cram so much in (eight matches!) one show. If you're not watching TNA, start now. It's well worth your time.

Jake Barnett: I really enjoyed the opening segment of Impact this past week. It seems TNA is serious about making Austin Aries a star, and he has yet to turn in a disappointing performance in his new found role. This has also been the best role we've seen Hulk Hogan in, perhaps in his entire TNA run. I'm of the opinion that he can make his best contributions to TNA by lending his reputation and personality to putting over younger talents, and this has been an excellent example of that.

Mark Gessner: So the payoff to the Dixie and AJ storyline has been revealed, and we're all dumber having witnessed it. The girl actress was terrible, the logic gaps such as why Dixie wouldn't of told Serg, which led to him throwing the most feminine looking punch in history, we're equally terrible. It's a shame that this closed out a show with six short but good BFG Series matches.

Ryan Kester: Despite the terrible finish to the show, last week's Impact was fairly good. The how may have attempted to pack too much onto one two hour episode, but it maintained a good flow and produced some decent wrestling. It was by no means TNA's best, but it's the first Open Fight Night that I actually enjoyed.

Chris Shore: TNA took a big hit with the AJ Styles and Dixie Carter reveal. It was a bad story, and no one should defend it. That said, it was one bad arc on a show that is doing better each week. They have to stop these terrible stories because so many people feel burned by them. The good news is, one is a lot fewer than we have seen in the past. Stay the course TNA. Things are looking up.

Other (MMA, Indies, Etc)

Will Pruett (ROH): What exactly is the point of trying to make the anti-hero a true heel? Kevin Steen lead fans to turn on Davey Richards and is now begging fans to turn on him. This is an odd angle. ROH is being booked like a territory in 1975 and not a semi-national promotion in 2012. It's Smokey Mountain Wrestling all over again.

Jake Barnett (ROH): ROH had a much better outing technically with Best in the World. It was nice to see them put in place the necessary changes to make he show enjoyable to watch on iPPV. The All Night Express winning the tag titles was nice to see, as there probably isn't a tag team that has improved more over the last year than them. Cole and O'Reilly also deserve mention for a their match, which capitalized on a mistake to be the most memorable moment on the PPV. Steen's post match promo didn't really excite me as much as confuse me, and I'm not sure where they are going with him. If the reaction wasn't what they wanted, do they pull the plug and move on to a different story? I certainly hope so.

Mark Gessner (UFC): We're ten days away from Silva vs. Sonnen II and I cannot wait. This is the most anticipated fight in years. It will be interesting to see whether Silva really was injured when they fought at 117 and that's why he got his ass kicked, or if it was just Sonnen outclassing him with his wrestling ability (I lean towards the latter). It will also be intriguing to see how much work Sonnen put in on his submission defense.

Ryan Kester (UFC): We're just a little over a week away from what may be the biggest fight in the UFC this year. Silva vs. Sonnen 2 is looking to be one hell of a fight, and this is the first UFC event in months that I find myself eagerly anticipating.

Chris Shore (ROH):What ROH needs right now is a great video team to fix that footage from Kevin Steen's heel promo at the end of Best in the World. Even if they got the response they were trying for, I'm doubtful they can make that into good TV or even storytelling. ROH may actually be in the worst place, creatively, of all the major promotions right now.
