Twilling's Blog: Where does the current Nexus angle rate amongst the recent top WWE angles?

-The current angle in the WWE involving The Nexus has people buzzing and is even being called one of the best WWE angles in years. In this blog, I'm going to list a few of the better angles and allow you to compare. Granted, it could be argued that an angle and a program are two different things, but for the sake of this blog, just treat them the same. Here we go with the list.

-Shawn Michaels retires Ric Flair at WrestleMania 24: Flair had to win every match from the winter of 2007 on or a loss would result in him having to retire. The buildup to this match was so well done. Flair wanted Michaels at his best. Michaels was torn between being the man at WrestleMania and retiring his best friend. Of course, the entire weekend was one of the best and most heartfelt three days we've ever seen in wrestling.

-The Undertaker retires Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 26: Once Michaels teased facing the Undertaker for the second straight year, we knew we were getting the match. In my opinion, for the first time since the streak was referenced, Taker had a legitimate chance to lose for the first time at WrestleMania. Michaels putting his career on the line just to get the match was great television.

-Triple H vs. Randy Orton leading into WrestleMania 25: Never mind the actual match; the program leading up to the match was well done. It took Orton's character to a level he had never reached before and for the first time, Triple H acknowledged his relationship with the McMahon family. Like I said, the finished product was bad, but the buildup was great.

-Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels: The best one-on-one program in WWE in years and of the best ever. Jericho punching Mrs. Michaels in the face and then the several amazing promos between the two fueled everything. On top of that, they were two of the best workers in the company, so the matches were great too. We aren't going to see many programs like this one.

-Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather: At No Way Out before WrestleMania 24, Mayweather hit Show with some serious shots to the face before taking off with his entourage. What followed was one of the best WWE wrestler vs. celebrity programs WWE had done. Mayweather won at WrestleMania and left a huge mark on Big Show in the process.

-Chris Jericho vs. WWE Legends and Mickey Rourke: Jericho vs. Rourke in a singles match was what everyone wanted to see. The WrestleMania three-on-one was disappointing, but the silver lining was a cool celebration moment with Rourke and Flair, not to mention a great singles match between Jericho and Ricky Steamboat at the next pay-per-view.

-How do these angles compare to The Nexus program? Will The Nexus angle outperform any of the ones I just listed? Did I forget anything? Will The Nexus angle go the way of the WCW/ECW Invasion of 2001? I think none of us want that.
