With WrestleMania and the Hall of Fame ceremony approaching, I will be writing a series of blogs looking at the current WWE roster and who I think will eventually be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
-Today, I will list those members of the current roster who I feel are current first ballot guys. These are slam dunk picks who, barring a falling out with Vince McMahon, will go in as the headline guy of that year's class.
-Shawn Michaels: In terms of longevity, it's hard to argue that Shawn is not the greatest WWE superstar of all time. When he left the then WWF in 1998, he was already a Hall of Famer. Since coming back in 2002, what he has done in the last eight years could be considered its own Hall of Fame career.
Possible inductors: Triple H, Bret Hart, Marty Jannety
-Undertaker: For those who argue against Michaels being the best ever, Taker could be the other guy in that argument. Of course, Steve Austin, The Rock, and Hulk Hogan can enter the argument, but nobody holds a candle to Taker or Michaels when talking about their sheer volume of work. The only way Taker stays out is if he chooses not be inducted because of his character.
Possible inductors: Kane, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon
-Triple H: It's hard to see through all of the political fog, but Hunter has carved out a very nice career for himself in WWE. If you think about it, Hogan's first WWE run last less than ten years. Bret Hart was there for around twelve years. Hunter has surpassed both of those numbers during this run and he's been a fixture at the top of the card.
Possible inductors: Shawn Michaels, Stephanie McMahon, Vince McMahon
-John Cena: If he retired today, he'd be a first ballot guy. His current run hasn't been long in terms of length, but he's been a main event guy for five years now and has also been the face of the company during this G rated era. Cena may not be popular amongst the internet crowd, but he's a huge mainstream star.
Possible inductors: His dad, Edge, Vince McMahon
-Edge: Despite his injury issues over the years, few to none have been more valuable than Edge when he is healthy and active. He was also a guy who started at the bottom and worked his way through every part of the card before reaching the top. Edge is definitely a guy that can say he has paid his dues along the way.
Possible inductors: Christian, Randy Orton, John Cena
-Chris Jericho: Jericho will get in but he is a guy I can see them holding off on because he is a big enough name to headline his own class, so they can always go back to him in a pinch. Jericho has been the go to guy in WWE since coming back, and was a star amongst stars during his first run. He also did a lot outside of WWE.
Possible inductors: Edge, Christian, Lance Storm
