-When Randy Orton started up the Legacy faction, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes, along with the Legend Killer, were supposed to be the next big heel stable in WWE. However, regardless of how great Orton has been, the faction has fizzled up until now. This is coming from a huge DiBiase fan and someone who thinks Rhodes could become a top promo guy.
On paper, Legacy should have and been money. The sons of three WWE legends using that distinction as the reason behind their bond. They also reside on the flagship WWE show. So, why am I way more excited about a faction on the forgotten ECW show? Well, it is true. I was a kid in the 80s, so I have seen a lot as a wrestling fan and writer.
I have also lived through constant reincarnations of glorious factions, stables, and tag teams from the past. Normally, they suck. However, WWE may have it exactly right this time. Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith, and Natalyaare the most exciting threesome in professional wrestling.
This is one of the few times where a faction name starting with "The New" would have been not only acceptable, but damn good. The New Hart Foundation would have worked just fine. However, "The Hart Trilogy" is absolutely (no pun intended) priceless. Smith and Natalya have blood ties to the Harts, and Kidd may as well. This is one of those "lightning in a bottle" situations.
Look at this way, as more second generation wrestlers work for WWE, WWE is able to capitalize by showcasing where these wrestlers came from. Often times, ECW is the best show of the week for WWE because they do not overbook it. Thus, maybe the Hart Trilogy will find a lot of success on the ECW brand and when they are white hot, they can move to Smackdown. Could you imagine Jim Rossannouncing for them? That would be epic.
Even without all of the obvious positives, here is one more. Imagine Bret Hart appearing on WWE television again. Imagine Shawn Michaels cutting a promo on the Hart Trilogy. Imagine Steve Austin confronting them and reminding us all of his feud with Bret Hart.
I am an old school wrestling fan. I love smart writing. I love smart booking. I love when something that was amazing from the past can find its way onto current television. Of course, it is really early for the Hart Trilogy, but I think it could be money, not only now, but for many years to come.
