6/6 Dot Net One Shots: The Dot Net staff give their quick thoughts from the previous week in WWE, TNA, MMA and indie wrestling

Welcome to the Dot Net One Shots. Each week, we will present a quick "one shot" thought from each staff member about the previous week in each of the following areas: WWE, TNA and Other (MMA, Indies, etc).

WWE

Will Pruett (Twitter - @itswilltime): Daniel Bryan is the hottest star in WWE right now. If he is turned heel, I still believe this will be true. While I would love to see him capitalize on this babyface momentum (and the roster needs a couple strong babyfaces), I could understand him as a heel. Either way, Daniel Bryan is ascending to another level before our eyes. It's pretty cool.

Jake Barnett (Twitter - @barnettjake): The Daniel Bryan Show had been really great the last few weeks. The rest of Raw and Smackdown look pretty banal by comparison. I’m hoping WWE is able to realize what it has in Bryan and keep this momentum going forward for him. The current character he’s playing is going through some kind of nervous breakdown, and having a top notch heel to direct his energy towards would be much better than having it pointed at a faction WWE can’t afford to have hit beat at the moment.

Zack Zimmerman (Twitter - @InVasionZim): Daniel Bryan continues to be the hottest thing in all of wrestling. I can't recall another performer who has gotten the constant, passionate, and lasting responses he gets. There's lots of concern around the 'net about a prospective heel turn, but I say just settle down and really enjoy what he's doing now, because it's something truly special.

Ryan Kester (Twitter - @InnominatusTTV): The Wyatt Family can't get here soon enough. I've enjoyed their work in NXT for a while now, and the vignettes over the past two weeks have been excellent. It's an act that can go wrong real fast, but what we've seen so far has been splendid.

Darren Gutteridge (Twitter - @Dazatheg): I can't express in words how happy I am at the current form of Daniel Bryan. Everything seems to be clicking for him right now, and it feels like he's on the cusp of something amazing (even more so than when he won MITB). I just hope the booking plan has changed, and a heel turn isn't imminent, because that may let all the wind out of the sails.

TNA

Will Pruett: Last year, TNA set the standard of a current competitor being inducted into their Hall do Fame. Given this, the selection of Kurt Angle makes sense. He was a major get for TNA and really elevated their status. In fact, he may have been the last arrival to TNA to truly elevate them.

Jake Barnett: TNA and Rampage Jackson have a long way to go in order to make a believer out of me. Brock Lesnar coming back to WWE was a wholly different scenario due to his history, and Jackson is mostly known for his Pride work and some UFC KO victories. How do you translate that into a Pro Wrestling character? You can’t simply have him KO your entire roster, and you can’t necessarily have him throw 100 punches without much visible impact like Pro Wrestling fans are accustomed to without damaging Jackson’s credibility.

Zack Zimmerman: Grading on the TNA curve, Slammiversary was a solid show. There were parts which felt plagued by the company's persistent issues of misusing key talent, old stars, and overbooking. However, there were also the real positives of solid a effort all around, the absence of real dud matches (leniency granted to the Gut Check match), and a hot crowd that was into the action. 'B' for their effort, no shame at all.

Ryan Kester: Taryn Terrell and Gail Kim had a great match together at Slammiversary. TNA is to be commended for the time they have given the division recently, and both women put on one hell of a show at the PPV.

Other (MMA, Indies, Etc)

Will Pruett (NXT): The strongest show WWE produces on a weekly basis may very well be NXT. We usually see some strong character work, a decent promo or two, and a fair amount of decent wrestling. NXT offers an opportunity to see the future of WWE prior to their main show debuts (The Shield, Big E Langston, The Wyatt Family) along with a really entertaining show. Watch it. It's only an hour.

Jake Barnett (ROH): The upcoming Best in the World iPPV has been setup well via ROH TV. I’m looking forward to seeing what ROH is able to produce on iPPV. Matt Hardy is starting to hit his stride as a character, although I have my doubts about how original promotion vs. heel faction feud can be in 2013 (see Aces and Eights).

Zack Zimmerman (Rampage): Two sections about TNA; who'da thunk?! Rampage Jackson as the "big free agent signing" leaves me underwhelmed, but curious. While he isn't one of the big name independent or non-contracted wrestlers I think most people hoped for, it'll be interesting to see how dedicated he is and how he's utilized. Here's hoping it works out better than King Mo, Pacman Jones, and Hermie Sadler.

Ryan Kester (Rampage): The signing of Rampage Jackson to TNA and Bellator isn't doing much for me. Jackson has a lot of personality and a bigger name to him than King Mo, but I would be surprised to see TNA do more with him than they have with Mo to date.

Darren Gutteridge (Marks): I caught the "It's still real to me damn it!" video on a TV clip show this week, and it still makes me laugh. Watch it immediately, as it will give you an idea of how the wider society views wrestling fans. I want to start a blog documenting the most unrealistic trash wrestling puts forth every week just to spite this man. Whose with me!?!
