6/20 Wednesday One Shots: The Dot Net staff give their quick thoughts from the previous week in WWE, TNA, MMA and indy wrestling

Welcome to the Wednesday One Shot. Each week, we will present a quick "one shot" thought from each staff member about the previous week in each of the following areas: WWE, TNA and Other (MMA, Indies, etc).

WWE

Will Pruett (Twitter - @itswilltime): The end of No Way Out felt like the end of a triple cage match from WCW's dying days. Personally, I would rather see the spectacle of the triple cage. This is a company that doesn't know where it is going at the moment. Their top star can't decide which personality he wants to have. WWE needs to get their house in order before Raw goes to three hours.

Jake Barnett (Twitter - @barnettjake): Well, ding song the witch is dead. John Laurinitis making his inglorious exit from WWE TV is the story of the week like it or not. The problem with is that the story that got us there wasn't very good and our young champions that were in more interesting feuds played second fiddle. I hope this myopia ends soon.

Ryan Kester (Twitter - @TheRyanKester): I went from being annoyed about Kane's inclusion in Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk to being elated to see that the three-man feud is continuing. The bets story in the WWE keeps on going and it is often the only reason worth tuning in.

Mark Gessner (Twitter - @MarkGessner): The planning and forethought of planning out Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar at Summerslam is a welcome change from the typical forty-five minutes or less that goes into a weekly Raw. Paul Heyman has been brilliant on the mic, as expected, and has shown great chemistry in his verbal spats back-and-forth with Triple H. While WWE seems to be booking Big Show they would if they had Lesnar on weekly television, Hunter needs to put over Brock at Summerslam.

Chris Shore (Twitter - @TheShoreSlant): AJ continues to be the best thing on WWE television each and every week. My only hope is WWE can find a way to springboard her out of the main event scene, when this run is through, to a good run in the Divas division. AJ has shown she can bump well. If she can keep her heat from her time around the title then perhaps she can breathe new life into an incredibly stagnant Divas division.

TNA

Will Pruett: Impact Wrestling on Thursday night was the best wrestling TV show of the week and one of the best of 2012. Coming off of Slammiversary, TNA could be getting back on what felt like hot streak just before their live shows began. I've been counting down the days until Impact tomorrow night for the first time ever.

Jake Barnett: TNA treated us to a pretty good show last week, definitely one of their best Impacts in quite a long time. They are seeing the trees of longer term booking start to bear fruit, with much bigger things hopefully to come. I hope some folks in WWE who keep up with the TNA product are pointing out that it is possible to have success with young talents in prominent roles.

Ryan Kester: TNA had quite the turnaround. Two weeks ago they felt like they were in a creative slump with a boring show and terrible booking. Then Slammiversary and last week's show happened and it seems like they are back on track. I am thrilled to see the BFG Series return and it looks like we'll have James Storm taking Bobby Roode's place from last year's series. I, for one, can't wait to see where they will go with it this year.

Mark Gessner: Hulk Hogan did his best work this past Thursday in putting over Austin Aries following the Ultimate X match. Hogan used his star power to finally give a positive "rub" to a deserving wrestler. Aries is the complete package and the proposition Hogan gave him was intriguing and well delivered. I look forward to tomorrow night's Impact.

Chris Shore: I often get abused by TNA fans for "picking on the company." So I'm going to use as many words as possible so no one can misconstrue what I am about say: last Impact > last Raw. Hands down.

Other (MMA, Indies, Etc)

Will Pruett (ROH): I forgot that Best In The World is actually this weekend. Ring of Honor should be very worried about the lack of buzz surrounding their product. Last year, Best in the World was the first show of the Sinclair era. This year, it can be seen as a major indicator of how far the company has fallen.

Jake Barnett (ROH): I'm really looking forward to the expected physicality of the Best in the World Show. I think it has the potential to be a great show and a value to those who are fans of the ROH style. I know it's hard for some to forgive the mistakes of the past few months, but I'm going to give ROH iPPV another shot.

Ryan Kester (UFC): Maynard vs. Guida for UFC on FX is shaping up to be one hell of a fight. For UFC's sake, I hope they can a pull a better number than they have with their previous iterations of fight night since the jump.

Mark Gessner (UFC): For the first time since UFC 98, which was ironically headlined by Wanderlei Silva vs. Rich Franklin 1, I am voluntarily missing a UFC PPV this Saturday night. This card has been doomed ever since Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonned got bumped to UFC 148. Even the replacement main event of Wanderlei vs. Vitor Belfort was not all that appealing. However, due to Belfort being injured, the main event got changed to a rematch no one was clamoring for. This show needed to be moved to FX or Fuel. At least we get Gray Maynard vs. Clay Guida on FX on Friday.

Chris Shore (ROH): ROH did enough to make it right for those who bought Border Wars last month, but they are out of rope now. It won't matter what the make right plan would be this time, nothing would satisfy fans who fail to see yet another show they paid for. ROH seems to have made every contingency plan. I hope, for their sake, it works.
