6/20 Dot Net One Shots: The Dot Net staff give their quick thoughts from the previous week in WWE, TNA, MMA and indie wrestling

Welcome to the Dot Net One Shots. Each week, we will present a quick "one shot" thought from each staff member about the previous week in each of the following areas: WWE, TNA and Other (MMA, Indies, etc).

WWE

Will Pruett (Twitter - @itswilltime): Payback and Monday's Raw felt like a kind of reset for WWE. A lot of pieces fell into place very quickly and now we have a very strong roster of babyfaces, compelling heels, and some very interesting stories moving forward. I'm interested in seeing where we go with the likes of Dolph Ziggler, C.M. Punk, and Daniel Bryan. This is a fun time to be a fan.

Jake Barnett (Twitter - @barnettjake): The contrived McMahon drama bogged down an otherwise very good Raw. Mark Henry ad Brock Lesnar stole the show, but other characters like Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio becoming more interesting over might is what really helps. If WWE succeeds in reviving the mid card, the summer could be looking up.

Zack Zimmerman (Twitter - @InVasionZim): WWE put together the most corrective and refreshing two-day stretch in memory on Sunday and Monday. Characters feel renewed, storylines feel compelling, and the in-ring product is better than ever. There is an encouraging and exciting buzz around WWE right now (none of which is due to the McMahon-Helmsley inclusion, mind you).

Darren Gutteridge (Twitter - @Dazatheg): I'm still griping on the Shield's first loss. There are only a few reasons why it makes sense, and they are far outnumbered by the reasons why it didn't. A lot of money and momentum has been taken out of the act now. It's not the end of the world, as now they can lose a match if it benefits a storyline, but it's still took some shine off of the hottest team in wrestling.

Chris Shore (Twitter - @TheShoreSlant): So much changed between last week and this week in WWE that I feel inadequate to address it in a one shot. There appeared to be a seismic shift in storylines all over the card, which was definitely needed. Now we have to see if WWE can follow through with these great setups. They have left us wanting many times before, and while I am hopeful, there's no reason not to expect similar mistakes here.

TNA

Will Pruett: I was very critical of Sting starting his own Main Event Mafia last week, and I continue to be. I'm also horribly curious as to who ends up in this group. It can't be Kurt Angle, since he is among the group of wrestlers who didn't help Sting. Kevin Nash andBooker T seem to be more WWE guys. Scott Steiner is the crazy. My only guess is Jeff Jarrett. Anyone else will be a surprise.

Jake Barnett: I really hope we get some consistent storytelling in the Bound for Glory series this year. It was hit and miss at times last year, and a good series could really give the title match at BFG a big match feel.

Zack Zimmerman: TNA seems to be pushing away from what has WWE so hot right now. There is more focus on Hulk Hogan, Sting, and the Main Event Mafia than the stars and young promising talent like Magnus, Samoa Joe, and Crimson. They seem to be treading in the past and waning present as opposed to building the near-future and long-term talent. Here's hoping the BFG series ignites some optimism in viewers.

Chris Shore: The Bound for Glory series starts tonight and TNA must deliver on this PPV cycle. They have not used their time wisely since switching to the new schedule, but they have been able to get away with it because the PPVs haven't been built around a gimmick. So much, if not all, of Bound for Glory will come out of the BFG series. It's a long time until October, but that doesn't mean they have any time to waste.

Other (MMA, Indies, Etc)

Will Pruett (PWG): On Saturday night I had the privilege to see one of Sami Callihan's last indie matches, a 60 minute Iron Man match against Adam Cole for PWG. It was a pretty great match and it made me realize just what WWE is getting in Callihan. I can't think of a wrestler on the indie scene more adept at telling stories and engaging the crowd. Sami is a unique talent and I can't wait to see him on NXT.

Jake Barnett (Stephanie McMahon): I did not like her at all in then divas segment on Monday. She bullied the heel AJ and spoke condescendingly to babyface Kaitlyn. Her presence took heat off the ongoing story and shined a light on the weaknesses in both characters. It might have been the least productive segment on Raw, and 3MB was on the card.

Zack Zimmerman (WWE): I had a personal mark-out moment Monday when Michael Cole and JBL acknowledged John Oliver filling in for Jon Stewart during a discussion about Zeb Coulter, but I had no idea of the greatness that would ensue. A fantastic WWE-targeted segment on The Daily Show, including John Oliver and Mick Foley cutting a hell of a promo and calling out Zeb. Do yourself a favor and watch this: Immigration & The WWE.

Darren Gutteridge (Silly promoters): Promoters trying to run American based shows with one wrestling legend attached - emailing the guy who lives on the other side of the ocean will get you nowhere. I hold no sway on these things, so several emails a week are wasted. That is all. I'll be watching.

Chris Shore (ROH): There was a time when the One Shots before a ROH iPPV would have seen the "other" section filled with comments on ROH. Sadly, here we are just days before Best in the World and I am the only comment. The indy scene has always had its ups and downs, but it has been a while since I have seen it this down for this long.
