Twilling's WWE "ECW on Syfy" Hitlist: Ezekiel Jackson and William Regal vs. Christian and Kane, Ryder, Croft and Baretta vs. Tatsu, Goldust

WWE "ECW on Syfy" Hits

Opening promo with William Regal and Ezekiel Jackson: Normally, someone who cannot talk is paired with someone who can talk. That was the original case with Jackson, first with Brian Kendrick and then with William Regal. When Jackson cut his first promo, you could see why WWE went that route. However, he has mad a complete 180 and is a pretty good promo. I like the idea of Regal cutting the "pre-promo" for Jackson, who comes in and delivers a good promo of his own.

Jackson and Regal vs. Christian and Kane: I have recently praised Goldust for teaching his opponents in the ring. I now want to praise Regal for his work alongside Jackson. Jackson is an absolute beast and he may not go about things the same way Goldberg or Brock Lesnar did, but I do like his progress. He also proved he could hold his end in a longer tag match.

Zack Ryder, Caylen Croft, and Trent Baretta vs. Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust, and Hurricane: There was a lot to like about this match. No, it wasn't a four star classic by any means, but it was still a very enjoyable fifteen minute match. We complain almost weekly that the ROH on HDNet show is too heavily focused on wrestling. This show did not have that wrestling quality, but you got the best of both worlds. I would almost prefer all of the tag teams be on Smackdown and ECW so we could have tag title matches on the Tuesday night show. Raw does not need the tag straps.

Baretta and Croft's ring gear: I shit all over their tights every week. They look like Sparky Plugg's old gear and they finally made the switch this week. They actually looked like professional wrestlers this week and truthfully, it is honestly easier to critique and respect their work. If Ric Flair looked like a road sign in the ring, I doubt he would have received years two and beyond in the business.

Overall show format: For the second week in the row, the show only had two matches and both of them went fifteen minutes. I am cool with that. I think it readies the future stars for pay-per-views matches. I remember talking to Bill Eadie (Demolition Ax) once and asked him the most important thing to train for when wrestling (or in my case, MMA), and he said, "Wind. You don't want to blow up in two minutes." Imagine being on pay-per-view for the first time and not being used to working a match longer than five minutes. I like this new format and hope it is here to stay.

WWE "ECW on Syfy" Misses

Nothing: No complaints from me. I think it was last week's show that sucked, except for the Christian vs. Regal match. This week was a vast step in the right direction.

Note: To those of you who are you reading, "How I Met Your Mother" is my favorite show on television. I'd appreciate suggestions on which shows I should start getting into. Shoot any email suggestions to dotnetrich@gmail.com.
