Twilling's WWE "ECW on Syfy" Hitlist: Christian vs. William Regal, Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes, Goldust vs. Paul Burchill, The Abraham Washington Show, Vance Archer
Nov 11, 2009 - 12:40 PM

WWE "ECW on Syfy" Hits

Christian vs. William Regal: This was a good match with a great last few minutes. The pacing may not have sit too well with newer fans, but given the veteran presence of the two men in the ring, they told a phenomenal story. I bet both guys are going to be sore for a few days after that match. Regal stuck to his strengths and did not stray at all. Christian was fantastic when he had the offensive advantage and when he had to fight his way back into the match. Very good television main event.

Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes segment: One of them is zooming the other one and I'm sure that will come out soon enough. The daydream video of Zack and Rosa skipping together was horribly corny, but I laughed. Zack and Rosa could easily be lost amongst the ECW roster, so this is an enjoyable program for them until they both move on.

Goldust vs. Paul Burchill: Solid three minute match and although I did not like the finish with Hurricane's distraction causing Burchill the match, I do like the buildup to next week's mask vs. career match between Burchill and Hurricane. Again, ECW does a great job making their own show important and keeping mid card guys on the show busy in distinct programs.

WWE "ECW on Syfy" Misses

The Abraham Washington Show: This show has ranged from very bad to surprisingly passable, but this one may have been the worst of them all. Washington's comedy is not coming across as it is supposed to be. If it was, it would be funny, but it is just not clicking. Tony Atlas was a fun addition to the show, but the bloom is off of that rose. I still think there is a place for a show like this, but they have yet to find the correct formula.

Vance Archer: Okay, he obviously has size and a positive look, but in watching him win this squash match, he reminded me more of Vladimir Kozlov than he did Brock Lesnar. He just didn't do anything that made me do a double take. Who knows? He may end up being a huge star and he may find himself in the upper section of this column next week, but he just isn't there right now.
