WWE Smackdown Hitlist: The Rock appears via video, 10th Anniversary party, Eddie Guerrero tribute, Vickie Guerrero returns, Dolph Ziggler and The Miz vs. John Morrison and Kofi Kingston, Women's Championship match

WWE Smackdown Hits

The Rock’s video message: For most people, this was the highlight of the show and I am definitely one of those people. It is scary to me to think that the audience WWE is currently catering to may not even remember who The Rock is. I bet a lot of kids saw him and said, “Hey, there’s Dwayne Johnson!” Anyway, Rock was spot on with everything he said and most importantly, we could see him host Monday Night Raw. That would be great for WWE and the fans.

Eddie Guerrero tribute video: If The Rock’s video was not your favorite part of the show, then the Eddie tribute probably was. Eddie became one of the most beloved stars of all time and not because he was pushed or because he died, but because there was something overwhelmingly and positively infectious about the guy. This was a classy and awesome tribute package for somebody deserving of it.

Party atmosphere: I know this isn’t really Jason’s cup of tea, but I didn’t mind it very much. Nothing too memorable came out of any of the segments, but nonetheless, it was cool to see everyone in the same room together. On top of that, Michael Cole was as funny and entertaining as he has ever been. Kudos to him for poking fun at himself.

Vickie Guerrero returning as a manager: I’ve said this in the past, but I was never a fan of the Vickie Guerrero character, however, she was amazingly over during her run. This is a hit for me because hopefully Vickie is not just an exception to the “no managers” rule. I would love to see people who are good on the mic do the talking for those who cannot do it for themselves.

Batista vs. Kane: I might be in the minority here, but I thought this was a pretty good big man match. Beyond that, there isn’t much more to say about it.

Dolph Ziggler and The Miz vs. John Morrison and Kofi Kingston: With Jack Swagger on commentary (for a short period of time), this match showcased five guys that could all be main eventing in five years (or less). Of course, John Cena and Triple H will still be at the top of card in five years, but I’m curious to see, out of these five, who will be joining them.

New theme music and video: I still like the Raw opening the best, but the new Smackdown music and video is fantastic.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Eight man tag main event: I guess I am being a little hard on the eight guys in this match, but the miss is more for the advertisement of the match. You would think Jesus Christ himself was involved in this match. The eight names in the match are big ones, but it was just an eight man tag. Seeing all eight guys together might be cool for the kids, but to me, it was just there.

Michelle McCool vs. Melina: How many times are these two going to face each other for the title? One problem I had was that the match was not advertised ahead of time. If WWE doesn’t care about having a title match on free television, why should we care about it as fans?
