TNA Impact Hitlist: A.J. Styles and Sting segment, Bound for Glory matches announced, Daffney and Kevin Nash, Matt Morgan and Hernandez, main event, Bobby Lashey, World Elite
By Rich Twilling Sep 25, 2009 - 02:25 PM

TNA Impact Hits

A.J. Styles and Sting segment: One of the things I look forward to most when a new World Champion is crowned is their first television appearance. I thought Styles knocked this out of the park and really did a great job setting up the main event at Bound for Glory. Sting’s involvement in the segment was also very well done. Neither man has ever been great on the mic, but they have done some of their best mic work ever together. Great chemistry and great segment.

Bound for Glory matches announced: I like that they announced two of the top matches for the biggest show of the year early so they have time to build to them. I might change my mind on this, but I still think Morgan vs. Angle for the TNA Title would have been better, because Styles vs. Sting could stand alone as a main event match. I’m not looking forward to Morgan vs. Angle as much without the title being involved.

Suicide vs. D’Angelo Dinero: This was an enjoyable street fight between two guys who really show the depth of the X Division. I would like to see them sprinkled into matches involving other talents but at the same time, I am enjoying this long term program. I hope both men gain something after it is all said and done.

Daffney and Kevin Nash: I think everybody saw it coming, but I thought it was pretty funny. These Nash segments are so corny, but they are entertaining and I hope to see more of them for awhile. Nash is very natural and entertaining in these situations and I am really liking what they have done with him over the past several months. Lauren is amusing in these skits too.

Matt Morgan and Hernandez: These are two guys TNA really want to get over and both of them seemed really over. Morgan is getting the huge push and the fans seem to be reacting to him in a positive manner. Hernandez is saddled with a less than thrilling program with the World Elite, but he is making the most of it.

TNA Impact Misses

Scott Steiner and Booker T vs. Mick Foley and Abyss: I know not every show is going to have a top notch main event, but I would have rather seen other things in this slot. The match was more storyline based than anything and I didn’t love the way they turned the corner on the Mick Foley vs. Abyss match, which will likely take place at BFG.

Bobby Lashley: They tried to make a big deal about his first match on Impact, but it just wasn’t all that important. I still think TNA is onto something with Lashley being involved simultaneously in TNA and MMA, but they seem to be confused as to how much they should push him and how much to get behind him.

World Elite: I mentioned a long time ago something about the World Elite sharing the stage with the Main Event Mafia. Well, I was incorrect to want to see that. Sure, there is some intrigue, but at the same time, the World Elite needs to build some credibility before they start hanging out with the top guys.

Samoa Joe vs. Homicide vs. Daniels: This sounds like a match that could headline a pay-per-view and tear down the house. So, we get it with no buildup in the middle of a free television show and it lasts a few minutes. The talent on this roster and the way big matches are just wasted is mind boggling to me.
