WWE Superstars Hitlist: Matt Hardy vs. Kane, Goldust vs. William Regal, Primo vs. Chris Masters, Michelle McCool and Layla vs. Melina and Maria, overall show
Sep 25, 2009 - 12:33 PM

WWE Superstars Hits

Matt Hardy vs. Kane: A solid, ten plus minute main event between two of the more well known names on any roster. I would normally prefer a show that featured younger talent, but this show focused on more established guys. I thought Jim Ross was great announcing this match as he proved that a match on Superstars seems as important to him as a WrestleMania main event. He also had a hilarious line about how Kane hates everything and that he probably wouldn’t even like JR’s Barbecue.

Goldust vs. William Regal: Goldust seems to be the only person on the ECW roster who gets a sustained crowd reaction. I liked how this match provided a lot of storyline direction at the top of the card for the Tuesday night show. The post match activity, although it did not include Zack Ryder, was a good way to open up a lot of match possibilities. If they decide to go with Regal vs. Goldust again, the young guys on that show could really learn a lot by studying it.

Primo vs. Chris Masters: I really don’t know what either guy is intending to do, especially Masters, but this was a fun opening match. I would like to see this feud spill over into their actual show, Raw. Masters has looked a lot better since he came back and Primo could really get over as a popular babyface if booked correctly.

Michelle McCool and Layla vs. Melina and Maria: For the last several months, the Smackdown women have been involved in throwaway tag team matches, but this one was actually pretty enjoyable to watch. Maybe I’m being lenient this week or maybe the praise is deserved, or both. I am slowly starting to get into the woman’s program on Friday night.

Overall show: Nothing on the show was horribly great, but nothing made the bottom column either (yes, I’m overlooking the Ask the Divas segment on purpose). It was a solid hour of enjoyable programming.

WWE Superstars Misses

Nothing: There was not anything on the show to warrant putting it in this section. Again, it wasn’t a blow away show by any means, but nothing was bad, which is a positive thing.
