Buy or Sell: Legacy, Batista moves to Smackdown, Trish Stratus, Chris Jericho, United States Championship, Hell in a Cell pay-per-view
By Rich Twilling Sep 15, 2009 - 03:02 PM

Today’s Rundown: Legacy, Batista moves to Smackdown, Trish Stratus, Chris Jericho, United States Championship picture, Hell in a Cell pay-per-view

Legacy: I am leading off with Ted and Cody because they had a great weekend. I am buying them because I think they have finally hit that next level. Granted, their promo on Raw was less than spectacular, but you cannot deny the magnitude of their victory at Breaking Point.

Ted and Cody have been away from Randy Orton for a little while now and they have been better off for it. I’m not saying WWE should implode the faction, but with Orton on a losing streak and Legacy on an upswing, there are intriguing times ahead. The only thing I am concerned about is DX winning the HIAC match and Legacy losing steam as a result. How they are booked after the next pay-per-view will be very telling and important.

Batista moves to Smackdown: I am undecided on this so I’ll make a purchase later. Smackdown needs another top babyface. However, how many times has WWE replaced an injured star with an established top guy from another show? It has happened a lot. Injuries should serve as opportunities to build new stars. With Undertaker currently feuding with C.M. Punk, the top program is taken care of for awhile. Why not elevate somebody and have Taker give him the rub? That being said, Batista not being on Raw means he won’t clog up time there.

Trish Stratus: I am buying her for sure. She was great as the guest host and she looked absolutely stunning. It is tempting to say WWE should do whatever they need to do to bring her back, but instead, I’ll say the guest star thing may be something that could catch on. I’m just throwing this out there, but what if the top stars took a month off every year? They could heal nagging injuries and freshen up. Thus, they won’t get boring and other talents will be forced to step up.

Chris Jericho: Jericho is a true franchise player and whatever he costs, he is worth it. They should keep the tag titles on him and Big Show for a year or so because as soon as they drop them, they (the belts) will become obsolete again. I’d be all for Jericho winning a World Championship as well and he can carry multiple belts around. By the way, his interaction with Trish and line about Bob Barker was classic stuff.

United States Championship picture: I’m buying this. WWE, to their credit, has done a nice job with their secondary titles. Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho remade the Intercontinental Championship. John Morrison and The Miz, and now Jericho and Big Show, have reestablished the tag titles. The U.S. Title is a midcard program at best, but Kofi Kingston has done a nice job with the belt. Jack Swagger and The Miz as his challengers gives the belt some direction and I like that.

Hell in a Cell pay-per-view: I hate the gimmick pay-per-views and am selling this one. I especially hate one dedicated to Hell in a Cell matches because the magnitude of these matches will end up being squat. Christmas Day is special to children all over the world. If Christmas Day took place multiple times, it would not be as special. This show in particular looks like it will be a rerun of Breaking Point.
