TNA Impact Hits

Sting vs. Rhino and A.J. Styles vs. Chris Sabin: I enjoyed both tournament matches but I listed them together because they were too short to really get into. Rhino is one of those guys that can be really over in one instance and completely obsolete in another. His completed heel turn on Sting after their match was very well done. Styles vs. Sabin could have been much more than it was, but it was good nonetheless.

Styles, Hernandez, and Beer Money presented as top guys: We all know Styles is and has been a top guy for years, but the other three have been nice additions to the top of the card. Both of the major companies need to build new stars and TNA is doing that with these four, Matt Morgan, and Bobby Lashley. The heels got the best of these four at the end of the night, but I will look at the bigger picture of them being elevated as top babyfaces.

Daniels and Samoa Joe verbal interaction: TNA would have been crazy to not recall the history between these two (and Styles as well) over the X Division Championship. This was a good segment with Daniels doing the talking, and Joe being Joe. It was the perfect way to get the ball rolling on their current feud over the title. I doubt we will, but I would love to see Daniels vs. Styles vs. Joe at Bound for Glory. That is their WrestleMania, so why not put the X Division Title back on the map as a main event belt?

Matt Morgan, Kurt Angle, and The Mafia: I have enjoyed the perceived game of one-upsmanship between Morgan and Angle. At this point, nobody knows who is fooling who. As for the Mafia, I just thought they were hilarious last night; particularly Scott Steiner and Booker T.

The Beautiful People promo: Well, this is the last we’ll see of the current Beautiful People for awhile (or at least after these tapings play out). I thought they did a great job getting people ready for their tag team tournament match next week against Madison Rayne and perhaps Roxxi. I am going to miss these two together.

The British Invasion: I wanted to get behind the World Elite faction, but it has been diffcult to say the least. However, I have been high on TBI since they came to TNA and now is no different. Doug Williams is a lot of fun to watch in the ring and Brutus Magnus is very talented on the microphone. I am guessing these three will emerge as stars out of the WE.

TNA Impact Misses

Sting vs. Hernandez: I liked it in the sense that for the second time in a row (Hernandez wrestled Sting for the TNA Championship when Sting was in the Mafia), they presented Sting as not being able to beat Hernandez. Hernandez didn’t look weak by not winning the match, but a win and pay-per-view main event could have done wonders for him. The match itself was not so good.

Eric Young and The World Elite: I gave the faction every chance in the world and I wanted to like it; I really did. However, they are just not getting over with anybody. I don’t dislike Young like a lot of other people do, but if he is going to be on the show so much, he needs to look stronger. The faction has not done anything of note except for being turned down by Hernandez. That is not the way to build a heel stable.

Women’s tag team match: The match itself was fine and Hamada should be a babyface, so that was well done, but this had “thrown together” written all over it. I know it is difficult to field enough women for a tag team tournament, but damn, at least give us a reason why people are teaming together.

Hernandez vs. Homicide: Truthfully, this could be a main event feud down the road and instead it was thrown together in the beginning of a tournament. No hype, very little promo work beforehand, and not much of a finished product. I really would like to see these two working together down the road, but I want to see them tear the house down.
