TNA Impact Hits
A.J. Styles, Sting, and Hernandez vs. Matt Morgan, Booker T, and Scott Steiner: The match itself was nothing to write home about, but I like that the babyface team earned the victory and Styles was the guy who pinned Morgan. Both Sting and Hernandez were wrestling in t-shirts, which I thought was odd. Bonus points go to Kurt Angle on commentary during the match and his back and forth attitude regarding Matt Morgan.
Matt Morgan's mind games with Kurt Angle: I'll tell you this much; if I was Kurt Angle and Morgan kept calling me "little buddy," I would wrap him up like a pretzel. Anyway, Morgan is entertaining here and he is one step ahead of Angle. Instead of the predictable, "Morgan will do anything for Angle" storyline, Morgan has demonstrated having a huge set of balls. I'm not sure how it will end, but it has been good.
Daffney vs. Hamada: Nice Impact debut for Hamada in what was a great television match. Hamada is extremely talented in the ring and Daffney was a great opponent for her. They worked really well together and further proved how ridiculous the current women's championship situation in TNA is.
Suicide and Daniels vs. D'Angelo Dinero and Samoa Joe: TNA has handled Dinero's debut perfectly. He was presented as a huge star and that is exactly how he is coming across. I loved this match because it made the X Division seem hugely relevant again by progressing two feuds. I hope Daniels and Joe are given a lot of time at the pay-per-view because they can really do the X Division Title a lot of good.
Dixie Carter and Bobby Lashley sit down interview: I was disappointed that Dixie did not address the live crowd, but that aside, this was a good segment. I was wrong about the Lashley signing because he is coming across as a huge star. Dixie and TNA are playing this one perfectly in terms of Lashley being a star in MMA and TNA. I was skeptical about it working and it looks like a great business move for TNA to bring in Lashley.
The Beautiful People attack Madison Rayne: I never liked Madison in TBP. I am glad she is no longer there and I am glad the girls kicked her ass. I wonder who Madison's mystery partner is going to be in the tag team tournament.
TNA Impact Misses
Hernandez turns down a chance to join the World Elite: I am glad Hernandez will not be in the group, but I wish they would have played it out more. Eric Young guaranteed Hernandez joining the group and Hernandez turned them down in the next segment. They didn't have to draw it out over several weeks, but they could have added to the intrigue.
Cody Deaner vs. ODB for the women's title: So, the women's division is loaded. They are introducing tag team titles for the women and what is going on with the singles title? They are having a man wrestle for it on a pay-per-view. That seems like a one step forward two steps back situation. I hope they abandon this mess soon and get serious about this division.
A.J. Styles retirement follow-up: Styles retired last week and regardless of what anyone says, he came across as a whiner. He complained about things every wrestler has to deal with (not seeing their families etc.). One week later, he is back with Sting and Sting is willing to pass the torch. I seem to recall Sting joining the Mafia because Styles and others had no respect for the business. So why is Sting siding with the guy that wanted to quit?
Abyss vs. The Motor City Machine Guns: The Guns finally get to wrestle and they lose a handicap match? I hate handicap matches (yes, I know I always say that) and I especially hate when a team like the Guns lose one. I enjoyed Alex Shelley's camera work, but I want to see these guys winning matches!
