WWE Smackdown Hitlist: C.M. Punk and Jeff Hardy, Punk vs. John Morrison, Mike Knox, Kane, Jeff Hardy vs. The Hart Dynasty, JTG vs. Big Show, Dolph Ziggler vs. Finlay

WWE Smackdown Hits
Opening segment with C.M. Punk and Jeff Hardy: The TLC match at SummerSlam is the true main event of the show whether or not it goes on last. Back when Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels were cutting promos on each other every week (or Jericho did so on his own), they did a great job of building their feud. Hardy and Punk have done similarly good work with their promos. Punk's straight edge heel character is absolutely perfect for Hardy and this has been a fantastic program.
C.M. Punk vs. John Morrison: Smackdown has churned out spectacular main events week after week and although this was not as good as some of the great matches we have seen on the show, it was still very good. I like that Punk got the win here because he needed a win over Morrison and he is the guy defending the belt at SummerSlam. Morrison is primed to pop as a main event guy.
Mike Knox: I loved the beatdown he gave Finlay and beyond that, I just really like the guy. I wondered for awhile there where the hell he went, but I’m glad to have him back again and I love the dynamic between Ziggler and him.
Kane attacks Great Khali: Kane continues to impress and even though he is saddled feuding with Khali, he has made the most of it. I like how he is terrorizing both Khali and Ranjin Singh. Kane has made himself relevant again and I hope he gets out of this feud and into something better very soon.
WWE Smackdown Misses
Jeff Hardy vs. The Hart Dynasty: Listing this match here has nothing to do with any of the three guys in the match or even the match itself. I just hate handicap matches because one guy should never almost beat two. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of a time where I thought a handicap match was a good idea.
JTG vs. Big Show: Last week, JTG beat Chris Jericho and a lot of people scratched their heads. I thought it could have been looked at as a positive thing because Cryme Tyme needed some momentum going into SummerSlam. However, JTG’s win over Jericho is now forgotten because of this loss to Show. I really don’t understand the booking here.
Layla vs. Melina: Layla has been improving a lot in the ring. Anyone that has watched her knows that. However, the women’s division on Smackdown just does nothing for me. I’m not sure what it is exactly, but I just cannot get interested in the division, and the return of Michelle McCool isn’t going to help matters all that much. Who knows? Maybe it will turn around soon and turn me with it.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Finlay: I like that Ziggler got the win, but the match was just very blah to me and not a great way to start the show. Finlay is a great guy to teach the up and coming stars, but his matches with them are not translating well on television.
