Twilling Editorials WWE "ECW on Syfy" Hitlist: Christian vs. Tommy Dreamer, Sheamus vs. Goldust, Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov, Hurricane, Zack Ryder, Abraham Washington Show, Bella Twins By Rich Twilling Aug 5, 2009 - 01:14 PM Email This Article | Printer Friendly Page Send Us News & Results | Back to Main Listing WWE “ECW on Syfy” Hits Christian vs. Tommy Dreamer for the ECW Championship: I mentioned in my television report that this match was not anything we have not seen before, sans the car door brought in by Christian. However, Dreamer excels in an Extreme Rules setting and Christian has been great in the ring since his return. This was two veterans telling a fun story for about sixteen minutes and was a match that was pay-per-view worthy. Sheamus vs. Goldust: I mentioned last week how well Goldust is doing in the “veteran helps the new guys” role in ECW and this match was no exception. Sheamus is a memorable personality away (we’ve yet to see much on TV from him, positive or negative) from being a huge star and I like that they gave Goldust the post match attack. Even if he is there to put people over, he has to save some face from time to time. Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov: I almost wonder if there is a plan in place with these two. The current “anything you can do, I can do better” storyline is actually a lot of fun. I think Jackson could be a champion on this show soon and a player on Raw next year sometime. Kozlov needs something intriguing, so this is working for me from all angles. The Hurricane: It is too bad Gregory Helms cannot wrestle, but these little Hurricane skits are fun. They don’t take up a lot of time and they are enjoyable. Zack Ryder: The opening segment of the show was dreadful and even Ryder fell into that a little bit, but Ryder still shined as the obvious star of the three. Shelton Benjamin did a nice job with the singing, and now we will be treated to a series of Ryder vs. Benjamin matches, which is a good thing. It almost seems like WWE is going to let the fans decide who is babyface and who is heel between the two. They sort of positioned Benjamin as the face, but you can tell people want to cheer for Ryder. WWE “ECW on Syfy” Misses The Abraham Washington Show: I thought Washington was entertaining with bad material to work with when he first came in. However, this show is just not clicking. Granted, he did not have a great talker to work opposite of, nonetheless, he just isn’t getting over. I’m curious to see how this show goes when Washington himself has somebody to feud with. I think he, and the show, will drastically improve when that time comes. The Bella Twins: Tiffany told Brie and Nikki she was thrilled to have them on the show. Why exactly is she thrilled to have them on the show and what exact purpose do they serve? There is no women’s championship and they are not positioned with any of the male wrestlers.
