WWE Smackdown Hitlist: Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison for the World Heavyweight Championship, C.M. Punk attacks Hardy, Hart Dynasty vs. Cryme Tyme, Hardy and Morrison promos, women's match, Great Khali
By Rich Twilling Aug 1, 2009 - 01:23 PM

WWE Smackdown Hits

Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison for the World Heavyweight Championship: Smackdown has had some very good one on one matches over the past several weeks and John Morrison was usually involved in them. This one was definitely one of the best of the bunch and is up there with the Tyler Black vs. Bryan Danielson series for best television matches of the year. This match was a definite treat.

C.M. Punk's attack of Jeff Hardy: I loved this attack as it reminded me of great heels in the past and how they would operate. Hardy vs. Morrison was a fantastic way to end the show and Punk attacking Hardy after his hard fought victory was even better. I am willing to pay to see any combination of Hardy, Punk, and/or Morrison at SummerSlam for the title.

The Hart Dynasty vs. Cryme Tyme: Well, Chris Jericho being one half of the tag team champions is the reason Cryme Tyme will cash a SummerSlam check. They should give him residuals. This was one of two fun tag team matches on the show and although Jericho deserves better than the match he is going to be in at the third biggest show of the year, Cryme Tyme has a huge opportunity here.

Rey Mysterio and Finlay vs. Dolph Ziggler and Mike Knox: I wasn't thrilled at all with the finish here with Ziggler being pinned, but I hope it leads to Ziggler getting another title shot and eventually beating Rey for the title. The match was enjoyable, which should be no surprise given who was involved.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Jeff Hardy and John Morrison promos: Imagine if these guys could cut great promos? Their match would have been that much better. WWE is obviously willing (sort of) to get behind Hardy as a top guy, but I hope Morrison's promo on the show didn't deter them from getting behind him. What was that? It wasn't horrible, but it was "can't turn away" bad.

Melina and Eva vs. Michelle McCool and Layla: Don't we see this match every single week? Is there any variety in the division and on top of that, is there any reason to get interested in the women's division on Smackdown?

The Great Khali: I knew Charlie Haas was not going to beat him, but I just do not want to see this Khali vs. Kane feud. Kane has been phenomenal since returning after the draft and he deserves so much better than to have to try to carry Khali. Hopefully Kane is rewarded with something worthwhile when this feud is said and done.
