WWE Smackdown Hits
Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho: Raise your hand if you would not pay to see these two men main event a pay-per-view, any pay-per-view. It makes plenty of sense, to me anyway, to put the title on a talented performer like one of these two men, let him feud with someone like the other one, and have world championship matches (and programs) like this. Anyway, this was yet another fantastic match between the two and somebody is going to have to do something very special to unseat these two for feud of the year.
Kane vs. Jeff Hardy: Since returning at The Bash, Kane has impressed me. Of course, he is saddled working with the Great Khali, but he has made the most of his other opportunities. Even back to WrestleMania where he was a surprising star in the MITB ladder match, he looked pretty good in the ring in this match, as did Hardy (of course). I almost wish Kane would get a short run with the belt in order to make himself a more viable main eventer and also to drop it to a deserving babyface.
Dolph Ziggler vs. John Morrison: The match didn’t go long enough. That is a compliment because I would have enjoyed three or four more minutes in this television match. Furthermore, I would love to see them go twelve to fourteen minutes on a pay-per-view. This was booked perfectly as the correct guy won the match. Fans, what we have here is a world championship feud down the road. Raise your hand if you saw this type of success for Ziggler when he debuted. If your hand is up, put it down, liar. Ziggler deserves all the credit in the world for getting himself over.
Dolph Ziggler and Maria: Why the hell not? Maria would make a great heel valet and although Ziggler can (and will) talk for himself, having Maria around will only enhance his character. Now, if Maria is just teasing Ziggler for the benefit of John Morrison, then her character is a slut. Wait, this is a PG product, so she would be overexposed in the vaginal region.
The Hart Dynasty vs. Cryme Tyme: It was pretty obvious the Harts would win this match given that they lost last week to Cryme Tyme, so this is only a mild hit. I suppose the Harts should probably have a feud before they ascend to where I want them to go, but I just wish the Dynasty had more to show for their short tenure than this. I hate to say it, but Tyson Kidd is the gem right now and I hope David Hart Smith can get there too.
WWE Smackdown Misses
R-Truth: What in the hell was that? This guy was a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion and granted, he will probably never reach that level in WWE, but he is an entertaining performer that can appeal to the younger crowds. His talents have not been utilized to their fullest in the past and this was just a horrible waste.
C.M. Punk vs. Great Khali: I enjoyed Punk’s appearance during the Jeff Hardy match, but of course, I did not enjoy a match with him involving Khali. Khali can play a specific role and I realize he is going to work main event level matches, I just would rather not see them. Also, I feel bad for Kane, who seems to have some momentum right now, for having to have another feud with him.
