ECW Hitlist: Tommy Dreamer, Christian vs. Vladimir Kozlov, Shelton Benjamin vs. Yoshi Tatsu, Ezekiel Jackson, Abraham Washington Show, Nikki Bella vs. Katie Lea
By Rich Twilling Jul 10, 2009 - 01:08 PM

WWE “ECW on SyFy” Hits

Tommy Dreamer: Nice show for the ECW Champion. Dreamer was impressive in what is becoming a dreadful talk show segment, even though the star of said segment is decent in his role. Dreamer then followed up with some very solid mic work during the main event, in which he put over both of his potential opponents without putting them over too much.

Christian vs. Vladimir Kozlov: The ideal recipe (not everyone contains every facet) for a main event star is someone that can work their ass off in the ring, someone that has charisma that gets them over with the fans and/or in interviews, and someone that has a good look. Christian is by far all of these things. You can add, “Carried Vladimir Kozlov to his best match yet” to the list. Kozlov was decent here. I’m glad Christian won this match although I hope there is a phantom trade in the works that gets him over to Smackdown or Raw.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Yoshi Tatsu: After their first match was a glorified squash following some horrible attempts at comedy by Benjamin, I was very surprised and pleased with this outing. Benjamin can go, as always (he would have been a world champion twenty years ago because he would have had a manager) and Yoshi was a lot of fun to watch. The crowd was behind him too. Looks like ECW is replenishing the cupboard after all.

Ezekiel Jackson: There is something about this guy that tells me he has “it.” He may or may not be a main event talent on Raw or Smackdown, but I would much rather see him challenging for the ECW Title than Kozlov. I am hoping to see Jackson further established as a force to be reckon with on this show because I think he could do a lot of positive things.

WWE “ECW on SyFy” Misses

The Abraham Washington Show: Last week, I believe I gave the show a miss while giving Washington himself a hit. Well, the show still sucks. Washington himself has some tools, but this is the shittiest tool box I have seen in awhile. Tommy Dreamer, who was never really a great promo guy, was the reason this thing was passable tonight. Scrap the show and let Washington wrestle.

Nikki Bella vs. Katie Lea Burchill: This pissed me off for three reasons. First of all, Nikki Bella should not be going over Katie Lea Burchill. Secondly, the twin thing is already tired. Finally, seeing Katie Lea on the show reminded me of the misusage of Paul Burchill and his on again, off again appearances on television.
