WWE Superstars Hitlist: Zack Ryder vs. Tyler Reks, Josh Matthews and Matt Striker, R-Truth vs. Ricky Ortiz, Chavo Guerrero vs. Hornswoggle
Jul 10, 2009 - 01:46 PM

WWE Superstars Hits

Zack Ryder vs. Tyler Reks: I am going to admit; the show sucked tonight. This match was by far the highlight of the show. I still love Ryder’s character and for the life of me, I cannot comprehend Chris Shore’s hatred for Ryder’s new character. Even if someone is not digging the character, at least he is no longer Zack “My tag team partner and I have to wear sweatshirts with our last names because even though we aren’t twins, nobody can tell us apart” Ryder.

Josh Matthews and Matt Striker: These guys have been hit and miss (no pun intended) since being paired together, but they were very entertaining during this show. Honestly, if there would have been three or four good matches on this show, I probably would not have included them here, but thankfully, their humor made the show a little bit more watchable.

WWE Superstars Misses

R-Truth vs. Ricky Ortiz: Ortiz is definitely better as the annoying heel. His babyface act was horrible, so his heel turn was a career saver for him. However, he just is not getting it in the ring. Granted, Truth is not the best guy to work with green opponents, but Ortiz is just boring in the ring. Oddly enough, if he could up his workrate a bit, he could be a fun heel.

Hornswoggle vs. Chavo Guerrero: Well, so much for this being the “turn your brain off and have fun watching an hour of good wrestling” show. Instead, with a match like this, it became the “turn your brain off, period” show. Seriously, Hornswoggle is for the kids, so let him be involved in short, few and far between segments that pander to the kids. Let Chavo have good to great ten minute matches with young talent in need of getting over.

Overall show: I don’t like the new direction of this show. I know not every show is going to have Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, or C.M. Punk in action, but damn, WWE can do a lot better than this. This show was downright bad tonight. Granted, it was a holiday week (in terms of Raw being taped last week) and everyone seems to be living it up, but at least put a match on the show people will see in their television guides and will want to see.
