TNA Impact Hitlist: Sting speaks with Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Mick Foley, Styles and Daniels vs. Nash and Morgan, two questionable title matches

TNA Impact Hits

Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Mick Foley: The entire episode of Impact was about setting up the Victory Road pay-per-view and truthfully, that is what a television show is supposed to do. This match was a good television main event and furthermore, it helped set up a lot of tension around the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

A.J. Styles and Daniels vs. Kevin Nash and Matt Morgan: The TNA purist (is that an actual term?) in me loved seeing Styles and Daniels teaming together. On top of that, the match was fun to watch and it did its job of setting up two pay-per-view matches. Give TNA credit for not throwing half of the card out there just days before the show.

Sting and Samoa Joe interact: This was my favorite segment of the show. Sting did a very nice job on the mic here and Joe played his role in this segment perfectly. I also loved the fact that Sting had the TNA World Heavyweight Championship belt and reminded everybody about that program too. I like how all of the top guys have their own programs, but they are intermixed as well. I also love that Joe will finally reveal who has been advising him (just in case you didn’t already know).

Tara vs. Velvet Sky: It would be nice to see Velvet win a match here and there as opposed to just being the person Angelina Love’s next challenger beats on their way up the ladder. I thought Velvet held her own nicely here and Tara’s ring rust, if she had any, has officially worn off. I also like that Velvet was willing to stand up to Angelina.

Abyss and Stevie Richards: I’m still very disappointed that Raven is not involved anymore, but I cannot help but enjoy these segments. Look at it this way: this is a mid-card program that TNA is putting some thought into. Whether you enjoy it or not, at least there is some long term planning to a program other than the main event guys.

TNA Impact Misses

Homicide defends the X-Division Title in a ladder match: This is not a slight against Homicide himself; this is the watering down process of the ladder match I am condemning. The ladder match does not mean anything in TNA anymore and in fact, most gimmick matches do not mean anything in TNA anymore. I don’t like that WWE seems to be following suit by having entire pay-per-views being full of gimmick matches.

Jenna Morasca explains her presence: Decent explanation that came about three months too late. Okay, she took her one million dollars, invested it, and made “millions more?” Really? What stock market is she investing in?

Tara defeats Angelina Love to win the TNA Knockout Title: I obviously do not have a problem with Tara winning the title, but damn, make some money out of the chase first. I found it really hard to believe that TNA would unceremoniously take the title of a heat magnet like Angelina in an unadvertised match on Impact. Actually, that isn’t that hard to believe for TNA, but I wish they would have done a better job with the title change since the division itself has been flourishing.
