WWE "ECW on SciFi" Hits

Tommy Dreamer and Christian vs. Mark Henry and Jack Swagger: While it was not a great match and Dreamer has obviously lost a couple of steps, it did pick up at the end and did a nice job of setting up the Scramble match at the pay-per-view. I like that both heels looked dominant, first with Swagger getting the pinfall, and second with Henry standing tall at the end of the show.

Finlay's promo and subsequent match with Zack Ryder: I enjoyed the nature of Finlay's promo. As a talker, he has his obvious weaknesses, so he plays to his strengths, which makes perfect sense. I didn't like his "apologies don't pay the bills" line because his eye injury didn't cost him any money. That aside, I enjoyed the promo, Ryder's involvement, and the match was fun too.

Evan Bourne vs. Tyson Kidd: I can think of two people that wanted to see this at WrestleMania 25; maybe next year's big show is more realistic. This was a short, but enjoyable match that gave the fans a very small taste of what could be. It doesn't look like they are going to go with this program in the near future, but once we get it, we'll all be happy about it.

Gregory and Hurricane Helms: The Santino/Santina "in the same place at the same time" bit from Monday was innovative and fun. Even though this was the exact same thing, I loved it. This probably won't lead to a huge angle or anything, but it will provide some comedic moments at opportune times in the future. Nicely done.

Overall show: This show was a mild hit. With only one match at The Bash, it did its job of promoting said match. I liked the idea of a Scramble only pay-per-view last year when they did it, but the gimmick match works here because all five men belong challenging for (or defending in Dreamer's case) the title.

WWE "ECW on SciFi" Misses

Josh Matthews and Matt Striker: This was a rare bad show for these two. It just seemed like they were horribly going through the motions and not putting any emotion into anything they said. Matthews can get away with that because his job is to call the show, but Striker did not seem excited about anything last night.
