WWE Smackdown Hitlist: The new Smackdown Six of C.M. Punk, Jeff Hardy, Edge, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, and John Morrison steal the show on the mic and in the ring, including a match you absolutely have to see

WWE Smackdown Hits

Edge vs. John Morrison: You have your good television matches, your pay-per-view worthy television matches, and your excellent pay-per-view quality matches, and this was the latter. It is amazing that on a show that currently has Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, and C.M. Punk excelling, you also have Mr. Reliable in Edge and a future main eventer in Morrison on the outside looking in. This was a great match I recommend watching if you haven't already.

Edge and John Morrison promo: This was a very fun piece of business that proved that Edge still has it, and Morrison is getting it. Everything these two touched tonight turned to gold. This show is so loaded right now that they could mix and match any of the top six (which is pretty much what they did tonight) and give us some great feuds and matches.

Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho: It was short, but because these two could be money in a long term program together, I doubt anyone expected a long match out of these two. However, the five minutes or so they gave us was very entertaining.

Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio promo: Since they have been teasing Mysterio putting up his mask, I am very glad they did so in a segment like this instead of just announcing it. Jericho explained why he wanted to unmask Rey and Rey explained why he was willing to do it, as well as why the mask was so important to him. Logical, but very good segment.

C.M. Punk and Jeff Hardy segment to open the show: This was awesome because Punk is correct in saying he simply followed the rules of the MITB concept. He won the briefcase and did with it what anyone else would have, so it should not have mattered if it was Jeff Hardy or anyone else. Obviously, Punk is showing heelish tendencies, but they could easily keep him a babyface. Most importantly, he has not changed at all. I like that someone can go from face to heel or vice versa without really changing.

C.M. Punk vs. Rey Mysterio: Solid match that did not make anyone forget Edge vs. Morrison, but it was a nice way to end the show. I liked the ending because it furthered the mystery of whether or not Punk is turning. In my opinion, he is just trying to win the match, which is what everyone's goal should be.

Dolph Ziggler: I continue to enjoy his character and that is saying something given his seemingly forever long feud with the Great Khali. I would have enjoyed seeing a Morrison vs. Ziggler feud, but after tonight's match vs. Edge, I think Morrison is ready for something more high profile. Nonetheless, I think Ziggler could be money too and I think he'll get his shot.

Overall show: It's funny, the top six guys were involved in matches and promos that I listed as hits tonight. That is something that will not happen often everyone. This show has a lot of legit top guys and they are all popular with various fan demographics. Another very good show for Smackdown tonight.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Women's division: I know Melina vs. Michelle McCool was added to The Bash and that is a positive step in the right direction. However, I am just not too excited yet with what is going on. The Raw division has started taking baby steps with Mickie James and Maryse. Smackdown is doing the same so before long, I'm guessing this will end up in the 'Hit' section.

Cryme Tyme and R-Truth vs. Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, and Ricky Ortiz: We keep hearing that Benjamin and Haas are not teaming together permanently. However, they are teaming together every week basically and more importantly, they are losing. John Cena getting hurt last year was the worst thing that could have happened to Cryme Tyme. This match was just thrown out there and unfortunately, nobody cared about it.
