TNA Impact Hits

Main event triple threat tag team match: This match featured the five men in Sunday's main event, and Sting. So far, so good in terms of making sure you go off the air with your main selling point(s) for the pay-per-view. Also, it doesn't seem as though Joe is going to win the title on Sunday (read below), so it was smart here to make him look absolutely dominating. I think they went off the air too quickly following the pinfall, but it was a good segment nonetheless.

Women's segment/tag team match: Again, the match was just a vehicle for the bigger picture and I felt they really delivered here. Taylor Wilde and Daffney furthered their non-title program. Kong reminded everyone she is still a force to be reckon with. Angelina Love and Tara properly promoted their title match. Finally, Kong and Tara faced off for the first time to foreshadow what will certainly be a program between the two down the road.

Team 3D and Beer Money brawl: I have really enjoyed the 'mutual respect' aspect of this feud, but this was necessary and very well done. The mutual respect is still there, but their respective hunger for the tag team championships is more important. This should be a great match on Sunday.

Raven, Daffney, and Dr. Stevie: I mentioned in my report these three have a lot to do with making Abyss interesting again. Raven has been great since returning and Daffney is ridiculously talented. Here is hoping TNA continues to get behind its midcard talent and with these three, perhaps some main events are in their future.

Daniels vs. Amazing Red: A fun opener that merits mentioning because it helped get the show off to a good start and it led to a nice promo by Shane Douglas, so again, they successfully promoted the PPV.

Samoa Joe interview: It was short, simple, to the point, and perfectly done. Joe made it clear that he is thinking clearly, he is not out of control, and he is as dangerous as ever. He also let it be known that he was going after Kurt Angle on Sunday, so it is safe to predict Foley, Styles, or Jarrett winning the strap.

Final hype for the Slammiversary pay-per-view: Go home shows should entice the viewer to purchase the pay-per-view and I thought TNA did a nice job with that tonight. I think their midcard has been awfully strong and although they waited too long to announce matches, at least they are matches that have been built up.

TNA Impact Misses

Sting accepts Matt Morgan's challenge, and then some: I know many of you remember when Ric Flair would swerve Sting over and over again. Morgan was solid on the mic, but I did not like how he degraded Sting to his face, only for Sting to basically agree. Beyond that, while Morgan just wanted to prove himself, Sting not only agreed to that, but put his spot in the Mafia on the line. This is like Sacrifice part II.

Daniels puts up his spot in TNA: Once again, Shane Douglas, someone who is "not employed" by TNA, is challenged by Daniels to a match. However, why would Daniels put up his spot in TNA? I know it is a babyface thing, but it also makes zero sense. If Daniels wins, he gains the same thing he had before the match, which is Douglas still not working for TNA.

Opening segment: I thought at first Foley was going for "The Rock; this is your life." Of course, that segment was awesome and this one, well, sucked. The best part about it for me was Samoa Joe beating the crap out of Kurt Angle. The rest of the segment did not need to happen.

Is Kurt Angle up to something? I like Kurt's more calm character. He could parlay that into a quiet assassin type of character. However, I smell a swerve with Kurt and Matt Morgan to oust Sting from the Mafia. That might play out okay, but I was hoping to see the Mafia around for awhile longer.
