WWE Smackdown Hits
Edge vs. Rey Mysterio: First of all, I love how this was hyped as a champion vs. champion match. It was not as glamorous as Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage around WrestleMania III, but if that match would have taken place, this one would have been far superior in terms of match quality. A couple of the nearfalls actually had me believing Rey would score the upset. This was an absolute pleasure to watch and if you missed it, go back and see it.
Jeff Hardy on The Cutting Edge: Wow; how good was that segment to open the show? This is the best feud since Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels. These two have so much history and the segment was a fantastic way to open the show and sell the main event of the pay-per-view. Edge is so good. Don't look now, but he is catching up to Triple H in terms of World Championship reigns.
John Morrison vs. Shelton Benjamin: Oddly enough, they did in five minutes what looked like ten. Entertaining, albeit short match between these two, who recently wrestled on a pay-per-view. Morrison continues to shine and Benjamin continues to show why he is so valuable.
Chris Jericho vs. R-Truth: This match showed me why Smackdown is so good. At any given time, anyone on the roster can beat a bigger star. It is as though everyone is evenly matched. I don't expect R-Truth to win the World Heavyweight Championship anytime soon, but he could be a solid television main eventer in the future.
Umaga vs. C.M. Punk: I have enjoyed this feud very much and although it was odd to see them wrestle in a match right before they are going to face each other on PPV, it was still very fun to watch. They work well together and Umaga continues to prove he can work with anyone (except for maybe Batista). I would love to see this feud resume once Punk has a title.
Great Khali vs. Dolph Ziggler: I list this here because I think Ziggler is going to be a big star. He may not main event pay-per-views, but he could find himself in a very comfortable role in the upper mid card.
Overall show: Night and day in terms of quality between Raw and Smackdown. If you are not watching this show, you should be and if you missed tonight's show, find a place to watch it and do so.
WWE Smackdown Misses
Diva's six woman tag match: Since the beginning of the year, we have been getting multiple person women's matches, so this was no different. Layla scored the pinfall; now I know she has been working on her in ring skills behind the scenes, but does anyone want to see Melina vs. Layla?
