WWE "ECW on SciFi" Hits
Christian vs. Tyson Kidd: Watching this match made me want to see Kidd as a future World Champion. He was announced as weighing 199 pounds, but in the ring with Christian, they both looked great and they tore it up. That was a fun match to watch. It makes you wonder sometime; Christian is one of the best talkers and best workers in the company, so why is he not one of the top guys? Kidd has "top guy" written all over him. I also liked his utilization of Lance Storm's rolling half crab and the sunset flip reversal Davey Boy Smith used to beat Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1992.
Mark Henry vs. Evan Bourne: I am continuing to enjoy these two working together. Also, for now, I like that they are keeping Bourne away from Kidd. Beyond that, I love that they are building tension between Henry and Tony Atlas. I think Henry could make a kick ass babyface, so maybe that is where they are going with him.
Tommy Dreamer: First of all, I liked his win over Paul Burchill (see the next entry for more information). Secondly, I LOVED his "goodbye speech" being interrupted by Jack Swagger. As he was giving his goodbye speech, everyone probably thought he was going to lose on Sunday (and retire as a result). Then Swagger interrupted and Dreamer looked triumphant at the end of the promo, thus giving the impression he could win on Sunday. Nicely done.
Randy Savage DVD commercial: Well, that was a pleasant surprise. It's obvious WWE is simply trying to make some money here and not make Savage look good, but it was still great to see this on WWE TV. Beyond that, knowing that the DVD set only has matches and interviews (which is usually disappointing), didn't this look like a kick ass set?
Finlay promo: Nicely done. It was short and sweet, but it reminded everyone that Finlay wanted a piece of Swagger and that he was not to be forgotten.
Zack Ryder: I place Ryder in the same category as Dolph Ziggler as two characters that seemed destined to fail at their onset, but have won me over. Ryder has been extremely entertaining and I would not mind seeing him and Evan Bourne in a feud together. ECW is really a strong show right now.
Overall show: Was there anything not to like? Heck, we didn't even have a Vladimir Kozlov squash this week.
WWE "ECW on SciFi" Misses
Nothing: I know I expect less out of ECW, but it continues to be a very solid and entertaining show.
