Buy or Sell: Kennedy's release, Flair and ROH, Flair wrestling again, Randy Orton, new additions to TNA, Steen and Generico vs. the American Wolves
Jun 1, 2009 - 05:37 PM

Today's Rundown: Mr. Kennedy released, Ric Flair and ROH, Ric Flair wrestling outside of North America, Randy Orton's bump taking skills, new additions to TNA, Jeff Hardy vs. Edge, Steen and Generico vs. The American Wolves

Mr. Kennedy released by WWE: I am buying this because I am a baseball guy and in baseball, two out of three is fantastic. This is great for Kennedy (Ken Anderson), this is great for TNA, and I think it will be a mistake for WWE. Anderson will go to TNA and believe this, he will main event there provided he can stay healthy. Vince might end up regretting this move.

Ric Flair pulled from ROH shows: I am buying this too. He has already appeared so that novelty has worn off. It was cool seeing him in a ROH ring with Austin Aries, Tyler Black, and Bryan Danielson. However, Flair is expensive and he has already done about all he can do for ROH. He also didn't seem that motivated to be there.

Ric Flair's comments about working for more than one company and wrestling overseas: I am selling. Flair contradicted himself by saying he could not work for ROH and WWE at the same time, however, I would not be surprised to see his work for WWE and his overseas tour(s) overlap each other. Also, wrestling is wrestling. I still have not figured out how wrestling outside of North America is okay because it "does not disrespect" the sendoff WWE gave Flair. I am worried that this is not going to end well physically for Flair.

Randy Orton's anger toward Kennedy during the main event on Raw: This one actually goes both ways, so I'll buy and sell. It is still difficult to determine if Kennedy did anything wrong, but it's possible he gave Orton an extra push on the way down, which would upset most people. I still wonder, however, if Orton would have reacted this way if Triple H or Undertaker was involved.

Raven and Lisa Marie Varon appear for TNA: I am buying both additions (one return and one debut) to TNA's roster, a short term one for Raven and hopefully a nice long run for Varon. Raven is older now, but he looked good and has always been entertaining. Varon joins what has already been a very solid women's division. I bet Gail Kim wishes she would have stuck around now. Not thrilled about Shane Douglas, but I'll reserve too much judgment until later.

The build to Jeff Hardy vs. Edge at Extreme Rules: I am buying and if it wasn't for the Jeff Hardy contract talks/situation, I would feel pretty good about Hardy winning the title at the PPV and this feud continuing. Despite that, this feud has been fantastic and let's face it, ten years in the making. Kudos to these two for continuing to raise the bar.

Kevin Steen and El Generico vs. The American Wolves for the ROH Tag Team Championships: I am buying this as the second best main event in the history of the new ROH television show (Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black II was the best). I thought the buildup to the title match was extremely well done. It makes the titles seem more important to not have them on TV often. It also makes other areas of the show boring, but oh well.
