WWE Smackdown Hits
Chris Jericho attacks Rey Mysterio while posing as a fan: Did anyone else enjoy this as much as I did? This probably cannot be done again, but it was very creative. Besides, it seems as though Rey will be unmasking soon based on everything that has been happening.
Edge and Chris Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy: Even though it was a handicapped match, I thought it was very entertaining. On top of that, the handicapped match was not booked, but the Jericho attack of Mysterio made it a handicapped match. I am cool with that. Nice job here by the top three guys on the show. Hardy's mic work earlier in the show was good as well.
Umaga vs. John Morrison: Morrison was always a give or take type of guy for me when he was a heel, but I am really loving his work as a babyface. Of course, Umaga is one of my favorite workers on the show, so I was excited about this match going in. The match could have been better, but I still liked it. On top of that, a feud down the road between these two could be fun.
Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas vs. Cryme Tyme: While I did enjoy the match, I listed this here because I am more excited about the idea of Haas and Benjamin teaming up full time again. Benjamin just does not get over as a singles wrestler and Haas doesn't even get to work, so even if WWE doesn't fully get behind tag team wrestling, these two teaming together is a good thing.
WWE Smackdown Misses
Great Khali and R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler and Mike Knox: Let's see, Truth could be money if someone in creative wanted to push him. Ziggler has blossomed into a potential breakout star. Knox could be an absolute beast for years to come. So of course, Khali looks stronger than anyone else in the match. This one left me scratching my head.
Melina vs. Alicia Fox: What has happened to this division? Ever since the "Miss WrestleMania" stuff, both women's divisions have been terrible. The three best women on the roster are a manager-type who hardly wrestles (Natalya), someone who has been completely forgotten (Beth Phoenix), and Miss Reliable (Mickie James). Anyone looking forward to a Melina vs. Michelle McCool feud? If I held my breath waiting for a yes, I'd be passed out quickly.
Layla vs. Eve Torres: I just was not interested in seeing this bout. The bottom line is the women's division is not large enough (or strong enough) to have an undercard at this point. I am impressed with Layla though in terms of her improvement in the ring. She could end up being a player someday.
