WWE Superstars Hitlist: Shelton Benjamin vs. Rey Mysterio, Christian vs. Mark Henry, Big Show vs. Hornswoggle (not a typo), John Morrison
May 15, 2009 - 11:09 AM

WWE Superstars Hits

Shelton Benjamin vs. Rey Mysterio: I watch a match like this and I think two things. First, a great worker should always be able to get over. Mysterio is a great worker and a very average talker, but he is over. Benjamin is a great worker and a very average talker as well, but he just is not over. That leads me to my second thought; why won't Vince McMahon embrace the fact that managers should always have a place in wrestling. Great managers made average characters good, good characters great, and great characters unique. Benjamin could be a huge star with a mouthpiece.

Christian vs. Mark Henry: Christian has been turning in great performance after great performance in the ring since he came back. Henry has improved in the ring and Christian helped carry him to a enjoyable match. Of course, this could be a nice long term program, but we probably will not see it.

John Morrison on commentary: I have always felt that having a wrestler sit in at the announce booth was a great way to establish their current (or in this case, new) character direction. Morrison was beyond solid here and although it probably will not be a high profile feud, Morrison vs. Benjamin should produce some very memorable matches.

WWE Superstars Misses

Big Show vs. Hornswoggle: I am glad they broke up Finlay and Hornswoggle, however, Horny's act has grown stale. Something like this does nothing for Show. Strangely enough, I really like the Goldust character and think he could be used much more effectively, but I hope this is not the start of a Goldust vs. Big Show program.

Overall show: Obviously, I enjoyed more about the show than not, but the main event left a bad taste in my mouth. This should be the show that is all about wrestling and not corny segments.
