WWE "ECW on SciFi" Hitlist: Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, DJ Gabriel and Alicia Fox, The Dirt Sheet, Finlay and The Boogeyman vs. The Miz and John Morrison
Dec 31, 2008 - 11:05 AM

WWE "ECW on SciFi" Hits

Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry: I did not love the match, but I did like it. Somehow, this feud has become important enough to warrant big match status, so despite it being a non-title match, I was looking forward to it very much. Given their contrasting styles, I am pleased at how well Hardy and Henry work together. The finish (see below) allowed Henry to make a claim to remain in the title picture.

Jack Swagger interferes in the Hardy vs. Henry match: Todd Grisham reminded us that Swagger is the number one contender for Hardy's title. His interference was well done and strategically placed. He allowed Henry to beat Hardy up for several minutes before coming in and making a statement. On top of that, it was great to see the onset of potential issues arising between Henry and Swagger.

DJ Gabriel vs. Paul Burchill: We all have our guilty pleasures. I am a big fan of Gabriel and Alicia Fox. I was pleased with this match as I expected Gabriel to score a quick, meaningless victory. However, Gabriel seems to be beginning a program with Burchill. That in itself is a positive in two ways. First of all, Gabriel needs to take that next step. Secondly, Burchill deserves better than he has been getting.

The Dirt Sheet: I was not horribly entertained by it, but it did logically set up the main event, so at least there was some thought put into how the match would come about.

Overall Show: My only complaint (see below) was the main event. Again, a solid hour that was logical and entertaining.

WWE "ECW on SciFi" Misses

Finlay and The Boogeyman vs. The Miz and John Morrison: The one plus to this match was the fact that Boogey did not tag in. However, the match was blah to me and although Miz and Morrison got the win, it really didn't mean anything. Immediately after the match, we were treated to Hornswoggle, a grown man, playing with a bunch of kids. Michael Jackson would be proud.
