WWE Armageddon preview and predictions: John Cena defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Chris Jericho, will Jeff Hardy win the WWE Championship? Randy Orton vs. Batista, finals of the IC title tournament
Dec 14, 2008 - 12:00 PM

I am making the following predictions without any inside knowledge of the match finishes. I am guessing just like you are. Feel free to follow along with Jason tonight as he provides live, ongoing coverage of the Armageddon pay-per-view.

John Cena vs. Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship: When this match was first made, I figured Cena would win and move on to someone else. However, I predict, in an attempt to showcase Cena's "new personality," Cena will snap and Jericho will win the match via disqualification. Cena will retain the title and these two will face again in some sort of gimmick match at the Royal Rumble.

Edge vs. Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy for the WWE Championship: Edge vs. Triple H at Wrestlemania seems to be the way they are going for the WWE Championship. However, a lot of focus has been placed on Jeff Hardy coming so close to winning the title. If they do not pull the trigger soon, it may be too late before it means anything. So, I am predicting Hardy to win the title here, drop it back to Edge at the Rumble, and surprisingly entering the Royal Rumble match later in the night.

Batista vs. Randy Orton: When Orton was WWE Champion and main eventing a lot of shows, many people wondered what was so special about him. Since returning from his injury, he has been so improved and certainly belongs in a top spot. I doubt this match ends clean, so I have Orton winning with the aid of Legacy.

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio in the finals of the IC Title tournament: Even before this tournament started, they were teasing a Punk vs. Regal feud. In what should be a very good match, Punk will win after Rey is distracted by Mike Knox. Rey will move on to feud with Knox and Punk will start a program with Regal.

Matt Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov in a non-title match: Kozlov will win the match, but given his comments on Smackdown, he may not stick around to challenge for the ECW Title, so I could see Jack Swagger playing a role in Hardy losing this match.

Finlay vs. Mark Henry in a Belfast Brawl: I see this stipulation being a good thing with these two working together, because their regular matches have been nothing to write home about. Sticking with the very predictable nature of this show, Henry wins after Finlay is forced to worry about the well being of Hornswoggle.

Michelle McCool, Maria, Mickie James, and Kelly Kelly vs. Victoria, Natalya, Jillian Hall, and Maryse in a Santa's Little Helper match: This obviously screams, "filler," so I see the babyfaces winning. If they want this match to actually accomplish more than simply getting the hot girls on the show, they could have Michelle turn here and even debut Gail Kim.

Remember, right here at Dot Net tonight, Jason Powell will be providing ongoing coverage of the show. Feel free to follow along with him while you watch the show.
