WWE Smackdown Hitlist: Edge and Vickie Guerrero, beat the clock challenge, Festus and the bell ringing, Triple H and Jeff Hardy, Mr. Kennedy, Matt Hardy

WWE Smackdown Hits

Vickie and Edge together again: Vickie and Edge were white hot when they last were on television together as the power couple, and I am curious to see them continue down that road again. I feel there is a lot of entertaining television left with these two in control of the show.

Beat the Clock Challenge: There are a lot of ways to name a number one contender and/or a challenger for the championship at the next pay-per-view. Coming up with something new is difficult to do and I have always enjoyed the beat the clock challenge. It solves everything in one night and gives us a definitive challenger. The downside has always been when one competitor draws a weak opponent, but all of the opponents tonight were legit.

The Miz and John Morrison screwing with Jesse and Festus: I am listing this as a hit for two reasons. One, it was humorous. Of course, it would get old if they did this every week, but for one week, it was relatively creative and funny. Two, it may lead to the end of this and turn Festus into a more legit competitor, which I am in favor of.

Triple H and Jeff Hardy win their matches at the same time: I couldn't tell if it was edited, but the finish to the Triple H match was well done. I was hoping to see Hardy vs. Edge one on one, but I am okay with this triple threat match at a secondary pay-per-view.

Overall show: It was a solid show that helped set up the next pay-per-view, which is what the show should do. I like that Jeff Hardy is still in title picture, Triple H gets his rematch, and Vickie and Edge are back together. I also like that they announced next week's cage match between Undertaker and Big Show. Promoting big matches in advance is always a good thing.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Mr. Kennedy as a backstage interviewer: Seriously, what is this shit? Kennedy is interviewing Triple H? H makes fun of Kennedy's return on Monday and Kennedy pokes fun at himself? That was bad. I doubt anyone is clamoring for Todd Grisham's debut match, so why is Mr. Kennedy handling backstage interviews?

Matt Hardy as an afterthought: I didn't catch this specifically, but was Hardy in the beat the clock challenge? I don't think he was and basically, he was just wrestling for the hell of it. I know ECW is a distant third brand, but Hardy should be treated with more respect than this.
