WWE Smackdown Hits
Triple H vs. The Undertaker: I mentioned in my television report that the near falls would have come across better on a pay-per-view in a match where the finish would have been in doubt going in. Here, it was pretty obvious neither man was going to win. Thus, I am even more impressed with how hard both men worked. That was a clinic match. Both men worked on a body part, both men reacted correctly to the crowd, and both men look good on offense and while selling. All in all, this was a great television main event.
R-Truth: Truth is over with the crowd and now, he has brought "Kung Fu Naki" back from the dead. Truth has a lot going for him right now and WWE needs to strike while the iron is hot.
The Great Khali Kiss Cam: Ranjin Singh has been fantastic on the mic during these past few weeks. The nearly dead crowd actually sustained a "Khali" chant. Khali could be a very enjoyable babyface and I think he has proven he has what it takes to do so.
WWE Smackdown Misses
Predictability of the opening segment: I thought the opening segment was terrible. It seemed like something we have all seen many times before. Nobody stood out and everyone knew what was going to happen and when it was going to happen. It reminded me of about five years back when Triple H would open nearly every Raw with a long promo.
Diva's tag team match: Maria is officially an idiot again. However, just because Michelle could not make the tag, getting rolled up for a count of three is something that should not happen. Later on, the segment between Michelle and Maria was about as robotic as it gets. Basically, this is a miss for the entire division, which is directionless and uninteresting.
MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and The Brian Kendrick: I am lumping them together because all three of them were recently very hot and primed for possible main event pushes. However now, they are being unfortunately booked as just random workers on the show. There doesn't seem to be anything special about them anymore, and that is wrong. MVP's losing streak is the most notable storyline out of the three.
Kizarny: Let's go already. Get him in the ring and see if he has any chance to make this character work. While it may not be a huge stretch for him, it will still take a lot to get this over. I am ready to see him; the vignettes have been overdone.
Overall show: I mentioned I was ill while watching this show. However, had I been as healthy as could be, I would have felt the same about the show. The announcers put over the pay-per-view, but the actual show did not. The segments and most of the matches felt like they were going through the motions. Besides what I listed as hits, the rest of the show just struggled to reach mediocrity.
