ECW Hitlist: Evan Bourne vs. Chavo Guerrero, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Finlay vs. John Morrison, Teddy Long, Matt Hardy
By Rich Twilling Oct 15, 2008 - 11:56 AM

ECW Hits

Evan Bourne vs. Chavo Guerrero: This was one of the better television matches you are going to see. Chavo may be bland and uninteresting to most, but he can absolutely go in the ring. Evan did a fantastic job of complementing his high flying skills with some impressive mat work. On top of that, the corkscrew suicide dive and base jumping hurricarana with Chavo sitting on the top rope were both amazing.

Mark Henry laying everyone out: I think it is funny that WWE thinks the fans will vote for people based on performance. Evan Bourne is going to win the vote. However, I liked the way Henry tried to make his case by laying out everyone that was a roadblock for him.

Jack Swagger's backstage segment: Swagger was solid in his interaction with Teddy Long and Tommy Dreamer. While he should not have been in the running for the championship match, he did make very valid points regarding Tommy. Swagger continues to shine.

Matt Striker: This guy is a human history lesson. I love knowing he is going to drop a name, move, or reference from the past from time to time. As a viewer, I stay on my audible toes waiting for Striker to drop some interesting knowledge.

Overall show: I could nitpick, which I will do in a moment, but overall, the show was beyond solid. It was definitely better than it has been in recent weeks.

ECW Misses

Finlay vs. John Morrison: I know what they were trying to do and I absolutely applaud that. However, the match never seemed to pick up. The mat work was very good but the change of pace never quite happened. This is only a marginal miss because I enjoyed a great deal of the action, but I would have liked to see it pick up a bit.

Teddy Long: Okay, does anyone else think he is a pervert? He is a face so he probably gets a pass from most people. However, his talk and mannerisms rival those of an eighteen year old. On top of that, if Tiffany was my daughter and he talked to her like that, I would pay him a visit. As Hurricane Helms would say, "I'm just sayin'."

No Matt Hardy on the show: Hardy did not appear on the show nor was there a mention of why he was not there. The world champion should appear on every show unless his wife is giving birth (or something). If he is not going to be on the show, somebody should tell us why.
